Nigel Lloyd-Latham

Born: June 16, 1964

Nigel was born in Cheshire and studied singing and viola at Trinity College, London. As a classical singer, he has worked with BBC Radio 4 in London and, more recently, in Cardiff with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Richard Hickox. However, Nigel has always had a love for jazz and more laid-back styles of music, and since the arrival of his daughter three years ago, he has crossed over into the field of jazz, soul and swing. He has enjoyed working at the Celtic Manor Resort, as well as several major hotels in Cardiff, singing and playing the piano in a variety of styles, to suit all tastes

Lauren Henderson

Featured in the Financial Times, breaking the Jazz Charts Top 5, and the Year End Jazz Week Top 40 (2021) as the 38th most played record of the year, Henderson's eclectic vocal influences spread across genres producing a distinct yet versatile sound. 

Her original music is featured in Sky Rojo (Netflix), The Drowning, (starring Julia Stiles and Tracie Thoms), El Juego de Las Llaves, (Ela Velden, Maite Perroni, and Marimar Vega), and Romeo y Julieta (starring Lupita Nyong’o and Juan Castano), scored by one of Lauren’s musical partners, Michael Thurber.

Henderson uncovers the layers of her diverse background in English and Spanish.  Her compositions paint stories reflecting journeys imposed through the African Diaspora in  connection to Henderson's Panamanian, Montserratian, and vast Caribbean roots as they interplay with her North American upbringing.

EARLY INFLUENCES:

Henderson began to study piano at an early age. She grew up singing in church and school choirs, as well as listening to jazz records her parents and grandparents played in the house. Timid as a young musician, she was always reluctant to sing solos, until given a gentle push by mentors shortly before heading to Wheaton College (MA) to receive her Bachelor of Arts.

At Wheaton, she discovered her voice, becoming the Musical Director of VUJ, a member of Jazz Band, studying classical voice and musical theatre, as well as finding inspiration from her professors and master classes with artists like Paquito D’Rivera, Take6, and the legendary Barry Harris at the Barry Harris Workshop. 

Having earned degrees in both Music and Hispanic Studies, Lauren combined her love of music and culture while living in Puebla, México. In Mexico she studied the traditional music of the Yucatán and popular music throughout the country at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Through her international piano and voice studies, she worked on developing her musicianship. In Córdoba, España she studied flamenco and its connections to jazz at La Universidad de Córdoba. 

As the Founder and CEO of Brontosaurus Records, Lauren Henderson graduated with an Executive MBA from Brown University (RI) and the IE Business School (Madrid) in May of 2019.

Rosemary Benson

Rosemary Benson has performed with her own band in clubs, casinos, and hotels around the U.S., Canada, and toured several times with The Atlantic City Jazz Band in Italy. As a big band singer, she has appeared with The Ward Marston Orchestra, The Midiri Brothers, Jim Levendis Orchestra, Michael Carney Orchestra, and the Ed Vezinho/Jim Ward Big Band.

Colleen Savage

Born: February 20, 1949

I am a music performer and a program administrator with a background in arts, education and co-operatives. I’ve been active as a jazz singer and educator on the Vancouver music scene for over 30 years. I have toured across Canada and into the US to perform at many major jazz festivals, I present a regular schedule of voice workshops, I direct a community choir and I recently released my second CD under my own name. I believe jazz is a saving grace within our North American culture. My aim is to further develop my ability to create and deliver programs which support healthy and creative community living, specifically singing good music and singing it well.

Jana Nyberg

Born: April 3, 1982

Jana Nyberg is a vocalist, flautist and educator from Minneapolis, MN. She appeared on Season 10 of American Idol, and has released three full-length albums to date. Known for her expressive and soulful approach, she effortlessly shifts between genres. A sought- after performer and recording artist, Nyberg has collaborated with Gigamesh, The Adam Meckler Orchestra, Jason Peterson DeLaire (Michael Bolton), Unus, Rass Kwame and others. On stage, she brings a vibrancy and passion that is infectious and ignites her audiences. The Jana Nyberg 5, which will release Nyberg's fourth full-length album in 2017, pushes small ensemble vocal jazz to the modern edge with exciting interpretations of well-loved standards and obscure gems alike.

VESNA PETKOVIĆ was born in Niš (Serbia) 1974. European singer, specializing in jazz, contemporary jazz and ethno music. Vesna Petković is well established as a versatile singer with astounding skills and impeccable taste, always energetic and innovative. Gaby Moreno

Born: December 16, 1981

Gaby Moreno’s new album, Illustrated Songs, continues her love affair with the sounds of the blues, soul and jazz that captivated her as a girl. Although she was born and raised in Guatemala, it was the sounds of the American South that inspired her to become a songwriter and recording artist. “I heard an African American woman singing on the street in New York City when I was younger. Alicia Saldenha

Alicia Saldenha's unique sound can be described as funky soul with a twist of island sugar cane. A national of the Caribbean Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, she resides in Japan where she is a rising star in the independent soul music scene. In an environment notoriously difficult for "foreign artists" unsigned to major labels, Saldenha (pronounced sal-day-nya) is breaking down barriers between races, cultures and languages and is performing with top Japanese and international artists. In addition to being a vocalist and composer, Alicia Saldenha's resumé includes a long list of experiences - as actress, dancer, scholar and university lecturer, having received a PhD from Kobe University, Japan in Culture and Civilization Studies.
