When she was eight, she had her voice recorded for the first time along with Miéle for the compact disc A menina e a TV. When she was still a little girl, she took part as a vocalist in albums of Erasmo Carlos and Ângela Ro Ro. Born May 27th 1989 in the beautiful country of Egypt, Alexandria. Mponda grew up with his father Jeik Kalunga Loksa along with his three sisters. Because of his father's job as a working musician, Mponda and his family had to move around a lot. Mponda recalls as a young boy moving from Egypt to the Congo, Ethiopia, and then to Tanzania. Arriving in Tanzania during a period where there was a lot of political uncertainty forced Mponda and his family to go through a life changing and character building experience. In 1991, Mponda and his family were mistakenly placed in a refugee camp; there he stayed for seven years

Doris Long
Doris has been making music from the time that she could speak. As a child she taught herself to sing by listening to Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee. Throughout her youth she dreamed of a career, but held off fulfilling her ambition until she had raised three sons. In 1963, piano player Saul Lucas invited her to sit in with him on weekends, opening the door to a singing career that continues to this day. Doris has sung with the best musicians on Cleveland’s jazz scene, including the renowned pianist “Ace” Carter after he retired from the Count Basie Orchestra. It’s more than a little ironic that Rebecca Sullivan discovered her jazz calling in Russia. Remember, not so long ago, when jazz and other American music were banned there? But the Cold War was long over in 2004, when she spent a semester abroad studying Russian literature in St. Petersburg. Jazz clubs abounded there. And she could get into them, free of the drinking-age restriction that kept her out of nightclubs in her college town of Portland, Oregon. Hearing the music performed live was a revelation. “I had no idea songs could sound like that,” she said. Jazz CDs, which once had to be smuggled into Russia, were now plentiful and cheap
