Linley Weir

Heleen van den Hombergh

Born: May 8, 1964

Heleen has received many great reviews as a singer and composer. Her professional singing career began when piano miracle Bert van den Brink heard Heleen’s voice in 2000 and spoke of “love on first hearing” . With him, bass player Tony Overwater and percussionist Joshua Samson she recorded two albums and a live recorded DVD and performed at the North Sea Jazz festival,  Concertgebouw, BIMhuis, and many other fine stages in the Netherlands and abroad.

Heleen's first album Heard in the Scene (2002) mainly consisted of jazz & soul repertoire. For her second album and theatre tour with the same band, under the title Rush in the Woods! (2004), Heleen's long-standing passion for tropical forests inspired the lyrics and compositions, all originals.  With a new team, consisting of Jeroen Vierdag (bass), Erik Rutjes (guitar), Karel Boehlee (piano) and Bart Fermie (percussion) she recorded Way Back Home (2011) a musical tribute to life, despite all loss and longing.

Maria Mendes is one the current rising stars on the jazz scene. After successful performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Festival de Música de Inverno do Rio de Janeiro and Dutch Jazz Dag, Portuguese Jazz vocalist Maria Mendes will perform a series of concerts for the presentation of her debut album “Along the Road”. This is an international concert tour that started September 2012 with two sold out concerts in Portugal followed by a third sold out concert at the North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This international tour will see Maria performing throughout South America, Europe, Asia and the USA in 2013. In 2012 Maria signed a worldwide recording contract with the New York based jazz label, Dot Time Records

Nancy Ruth is a Canadian-born vocalist/songwriter who has spent her life living between Spain and Canada. Her musical influences are woven with the mystique of Moorish history and Mediterranean breezes. Nancy’s music is textured with the bustle of the plazas and small cafes of Latin America, the solitude of the Moroccan Sahara Desert, and the flamenco seeping out from patios in the labyrinth of Andalusian streets. A musical gypsy, Nancy has spent her life singing her way around the world in search of musical encounters. She's performed with composer Toño Robira in Panama, shared the stage with pianist Bob Albanese in New York, and spent a month as featured vocalist in the Palace of the Sultan of Brunei

Laila Salins

Laila Salins grew up just beyond the skyline of New York, immersed in the cultural heritage of the Latvian émigré community. She has enjoyed a richly diverse performing career, performing jazz, chamber music, world music, cabaret, and music/theater, starring in the premieres of a multitude of contemporary music pieces. She has performed in Switzerland, Germany, England, Sweden, Australia, Canada and the US, as well as performing extensively in Latvia. She is co-founder of the music ensembles Kolibri, Ecliptica, Cat’s Eye, Ballistic Cabaret and TālaMana. In the fall of 2012 Laila completed her new CD - Elevator Into the Sky - her arrangements of Anne Sexton’s poetry for a jazz chamber music ensemble

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Vaneese is the daughter of Rufus Thomas, whose legendary career as a musician and entertainer began in Vaudeville and spanned more than half a century in rhythm-and-blues recording and radio. Her older siblings are the hit recording artist “Memphis Queen” Carla Thomas and the highly respected keyboardist and producer, Marvell Thomas.
