Jazz underGround is a network of NYC's greatest jazz musicians with NYC churches that want to sponsor free or donation only concerts for the public. James Shipp

Born:
Born in Columbia, Maryland, James Shipp moved to New York to study music, and has resided there ever since. James’ career is full of musics that inhabit multiple worlds. His earliest work of note as a sideman was with Tito Puente veteran trumpeter Ray Vega, with whom he played vibes in Caribbean jazz quartets and quintets from 2002-2005. In 2006 he recorded with Vega and operatic soprano Sharon Spinetti, playing music by Debussy, Lara, and Villa- Lobos arranged by James for jazz quartet. In 2005 James began his musical relationship with Jo Lawry, the vocalist in Sting's touring group, Fred Hersch's 'Pocket Orchestra,' and James' own Nós Novo

Saturn Never Sleeps is a special night of sonic innovation, curated by producer/dj King Britt and multimedia artist, Rucyl. Started in July 2009 in Philadelphia as part of an exhibit and dedication to the music of Sun RA, Saturn Never Sleeps has gone on to be a monthly boundary pushing 'creative process' in Philadelphia. We are now proud to present our concept here in NYC at The Knitting Factory. Rucyl explains, "The term Saturn Never Sleeps came from Sun Ra's love for interstellar universal concepts, and his special connection to the planet Saturn. The monthly event will feature ground-breaking artists, both below and above the radar, as we invite them to perform in an improvised setting which may be different from their usual performance setups as djs, visualists, singers or musicians

Trygghet

TRYGGHET began in 2006 with an elevator-ride in its hometown Amsterdam, a place with little need for elevators. The group consists of Martyn Heyne (guitar, field-recordings/Hamburg),Sam Sowyrda (vibraphone/NewYork) and Martin Hiltawski (bass/Prüm). After jamming extensively for 6 months they abducted a vibraphone from the conservatory and road-tripped to Hamburg where Label-owner Arne Römer and Audiotect Nils Frahm where waiting for them with croissants and raspberry-jam. When they started recording it had snowed for the first time that year, whereupon they respectfully decided that the further production of their debut-record should take another two and a half years

Markus Reuter is a producer, musician, composer & sound designer.
Born in 1972, Markus initially trained as a pianist before switching to guitar in the late 80's, and subsequently touch guitar in 1993.
