Nils Petter Molvaer

Nils Petter Molvær (NPM), Norwegian trumpet player, composer and producer, connects multiple music styles—jazz, ambient, house, electronic and break beats, as well as elements from hip hop, rock and pop music—and effortlessly melts them into convincing soundscapes of deep intensity.

Born in 1960 on the little island Sula (Norway), NPM was introduced to jazz from an early age by his musician father. After playing in school bands and local clubs he left Sula in 1979 to study music at the conservatory of Trondheim, where he developed his unique style and started to gain a reputation as one of Norway's emerging new talents.

His interest in both acoustic and electric music shows the ease with which he handles the conventions of pop, rock and funk, alongside those of modern jazz

Dave Lisik

Born: March 1, 1974

Canadian composer and trumpeter, Dr. David Lisik teaches jazz composition, arranging and theory at the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington. Dave’s diverse portfolio of compositions and arrangements includes 250+ works for jazz orchestra, small jazz groups, wind ensemble, orchestra, electro-acoustic combinations, chamber groups, and instrumental and vocal soloists. His Dave Lisik Orchestra featuring Tim Hagans released a debut CD in early 2010 entitled Coming Through Slaughter inspired by the novel of the same name by Canadian author Michael Ondaatje, based on the legend of early jazz cornet player, Buddy Bolden

Wayne Bergeron

Wayne Bergeron is enjoying a career as one of the most active players on the Los Angeles scene. With studio dates, International touring, jazz concerts, guest soloist appearances and clinics he has no intention of slowing down. In 1986 Wayne landed the lead trumpet position with the Maynard Ferguson Band. He can be heard on such MF recordings as "Body & Soul", "Big Bop Nouveau" & "Brass Attitude." Remarking on the talented trumpet player, Maynard Ferguson had this to say during a radio interview: "Wayne is the most musical lead trumpet player I've ever had on my band." Bergeron's first solo Big Band CD entitled "You Call This A Living?" earned him a Grammy nomination in 2004 for Best Large Jazz Ensemble as well as rave reviews from fans and press worldwide. Chuck Gottesman is one of the most active trumpet players in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. His ability to perform with expertise in many styles has made him first-call with many area bandleaders and brides-to-be. Greg Duncan

After graduating from Washington State University, jazz trumpet player Greg Duncan started his career in the music industry. He has toured all over North America playing on cruise ships and in Broadway musicals. In 2001 he earned his Masters Degree in Music from the well respected University of North Texas. In 2002/2003 he toured the United States and Japan with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and was a featured composer/arranger as well as featured soloist. His writing also appeared on the Washington State University Jazz Big Band recording of 2003. Rich Willey

Born: December 13, 1955

A Florida native who landed in North Carolina in 2002, Rich Willey (rhymes with “Billy”) has been around the block, including playing in the 24th Infantry Division Band in the U.S. Army, attending North Texas State University from 1978–1981, then three years cutting his teeth in the jazz clubs in Philadelphia prior to three years in Atlantic City and then seven years in northern New Jersey across the river from New York City. Rich started calling his bands Boptism in 1986 in New Jersey and in New York, playing in such venues as Birdland, The West End Gate, The Angry Squire and The New York Brass Conference. After going back to school from 1995 through 2001, getting a bachelors from the University of South Florida in Tampa and then a masters at the Manhattan School of Music, Rich worked again in New York City until going on the road for a tour with Maynard Ferguson right after 9/11/2001.

Trumpeter / Composer Leon Jordan Jr. is one of the most expressive and extraordinarily talented young musicians in jazz. As a native of Philadelphia, he developed a foundation early on that is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition.
