Performance credits as an on-call sideman with vocalists and bands include Frankie Valli, Johnny Mathis, Rita Moreno, Al Martino, Jerry Vale, Robert Goule, The Drifters, The Shirrells, The Four Tops, Harry James Orchestra with Fred Radke, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians. Mike Rinta, a Grammy-winning trombonist and arranger, is native to the San Francisco Bay Area and has been freelancing for over 30 years. He has toured the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia with many bands such as: Sly & The Family Stone, Jimmie Vaughan, Howard Tate, John Lee Hooker Jr. and many others. Seth Weaver

Born: August 13, 1990

Seth Weaver has rapidly established a reputation as one of the most exciting new jazz names on the NYC jazz scene. Whether though his brilliant improvised trombone solos, rich baritone vocals, original compositions, or his dedicated teaching, his passion for music and unique talent shines through. Seth’s latest project is a big band album titled “Truth,” slated for release in March 2020, and will be showcased at Birdland in an April 2020 concert. Geoff Mason

Born: May 30, 1968

Geoff runs his own jazz quintet with pianist John Horler which has played most of the jazz festivals and clubs in the UK their two Cds have featured on BBC radio 2’s “The Best of Jazz”.He is a member of RMG Collective a Modern/Latin group with Jonathan Gee ,Steve Rubie and Winston Clifford. He has played at the Ronnie Scotts, the 606 Club,The Pizza Express jazz club Dean Street, Cork Jazz Festival, Ealing jazz Festival,and has worked with many top jazz stars including visiting Americans Scott Hamilton ,Greg Abarte & Daryl Sherman and UK musicians Steve Waterman ,Henry Lowther, Derek Nash, Steve Fishwick and Dave O’Higgins

Michael Boschen

Michael Wang

Trombonist, composer, and arranger Michael Wang is an up and coming talent in the NYC music scene. Originally from Sacramento, California, Wang began his studies on the trombone at the age of eleven. In 2012, he moved to Boston to begin his studies at Berklee College of Music as a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, where he studied with Phil Wilson, Marshall Gilkes, David Santoro, George Garzone, Darren Barrett, among others. He was a member of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the direction of Danilo Perez, from 2013-2016. During his time in school Wang participated in several jazz trombone competitions, becoming the winner of the American Trombone Workshop's "Division 1" solo competition in 2015 and was a finalist in the ITA's Carl Fontana and JJ Johnson Competitions, in 2015 and 2016

Sam Chess

A deep passion for the power of music struck a six year old Sam Chess during his first piano lesson in Tucson, Arizona. Now, at 21, Sam is a pioneering trombonist and composer who plays in New York City and has traveled the world recording with jazz legends such as the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, among others. Sam has just released his first project as a band leader—an album of original arrangements and songs tiled “Hot Cereal”. Sam is a graduate of the prestigious jazz studies program at the Juilliard School, where he studied closely with Elliot Mason, Steve Turre, Wynton Marsalis, James Burton, Dan Nimmer and Ben Wolfe

Born: September 26, 1999

Rita Payés, was born in 1999 in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona). She has lived Music with intensity and proximity since she was a child (her parents are musicians) and began studying at the School of Music in Premià de Mar, initially playing the piano with Montse Massaguer. At the age of 8 years, at the School of Modern Music in Badalona, she added trombone to his studies with David Sanabria and then for about 6 years with Joan Palacio. She is currently studying 4th ESO at the School Oriol Martorell (integrated music training center) and his trombone teacher is Jordi Gomez. Occasionally she receives trombone lessons and music from Toni Belenguer

Michael B. Nelson

Trombonist Michael Nelson is the leader of the 5-piece a cappella jazz horn group, The Hornheads, who toured and recorded with Prince from 1991-2016. Michael has appeared on over 100 CDs, including producer, composer, arranger, and performer credits on three Hornheads solo releases and 10 Compass Records CDs for the Target retail chain. Nelson has also performed and/or recorded with Chaka Khan, Doc Severinsen, Lenny Kravitz, The Jonas Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr., Mandy Moore, Jimmy Jam, Johnny Mathis, Honor Society, Larry Graham, Ben Sidran, Maceo Parker, and many others. Currently, Nelson is writing, arranging, recording, and performing live with Vulfpeck and Fearless Flyers guitarist, Cory Wong.
