Born:

Trevor Rabin has earned a worldwide reputation for his innovative work as a musician and composer. Born in 1954 in Johannesburg, he is the son of a prominent lawyer Godfrey Rabin, who was also a highly respected violinist. Godfrey performed as first chair for the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra for over a decade. His mother was a well known actress and an accomplished classical pianist. Trevor showed a natural gift for music, beginning classical piano lessons from the age of six and, after hearing Hank B. Marvin from the Shadows, started playing guitar at age twelve. Chris Squire: Fish Out of Water (Deluxe Edition)

Read "Fish Out of Water (Deluxe Edition)" reviewed by John Kelman

If ever there were an album that deserved the deluxe treatment, it would be Fish Out of Water (Atlantic, 1975), which would turn out to be (more or less) the only solo album ever released by Yes co-founder and electric bass trailblazer Chris Squire. Trevor Rabin: Jacaranda

Read "Jacaranda" reviewed by Ian Patterson

It's been 23 years since Can't Look Away (Elektra Records, 1989), guitarist Trevor Rabin's previous solo album of original material, and 18 years since his departure from Yes. Rabin's relatively low profile since reflects his immersion in composing almost 40 film soundtracks. Jacaranda is a dazzling offering that showcases Rabin's virtuosity in numerous styles, drawing from ...

Anerley Road

Featuring the music of Trevor Rabin
Duration: 07:15

Jacaranda is Trevor Rabin's new solo album. He describes the track 'Anerley Road' in his notes: "I lived here from when I was eight years old until moving to London in 1978. Tal Wilkenfeld was so inspiring. Her playing on this had a big impact on me, and the track. Her solo is beautiful. Lou Molino's drums are as usual so good, effortless and perfect. I used the dobro, gut string, my Alvarez signature, Westone Rainbow, Gibson Super 400 CES, old Les Paul, my Strat, a Gretsch and the Barney Kessel. The fast weird solo near the end is a Tobias guitar that he custom made for me."
