Tony Ormesher

Tony Ormesher is a Liverpool-born guitarist who, in 1993 at the age of 12, won the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Musician of the Year award. After finishing as runner up in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year regional finals in 1997, he went on to study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Whilst at the Guildhall School of Music, Anthony studied guitar with John Parricelli and took master classes with legends such as Kenny Wheeler, Billy Cobham and Dave Liebman. Since leaving college Anthony has made a name for himself nationaly playing alongside the cream of British Jazz artists, Henry Lowther, Jim Mullen, Bruce Adams, Roy Williams, Digby Fairweather, Anthony Kerr, Jonathan Gee and Gary Potter to name but a few. Anthony is a core member, and has toured extensively in Britain and Europe with the highly aclaimed Manchester based ensemble, The Magic Hat Band. Since returning to Liverpool he regularly performs around the Northwest along with annual performances in Germany where in 2006 he won the Berlin Jazz and Blues award.
