Tino Martinez
Born:
Tino Martinez is a Bermuda-based tenor saxophonist and bandleader who has spent the past decade building a distinct voice on the island's jazz scene. As leader of the Tino Martinez Quartet (TMQ), his sound blends a lyrical, grounded jazz sensibility with neo-soul and contemporary grooves, anchored by weekly residencies at Tucker's Bar at Rosewood Bermuda and, until recently, the celebrated Jazz Thursdays series at The Loren Hotel.
Recognized as Best in Bermuda for live music in both 2022 and 2024, Martinez has become one of the defining figures in Bermuda's contemporary jazz community, with his work covered by Voyage Houston and The Royal Gazette. His current lineup — Raymond George on keys, Torrey Tacklyn on bass, and Tristan on drums — reflects a rhythm section built for the same versatility he asks of himself: equally at home inside a straight-ahead standard, a neo-soul vamp, or an original composition drawn from his own catalog, which includes "610 South," "Layovers & Red-Eyes," "Lost in the Triangle," "Neon Lights," and "The One."
