Musician

Skylark Quartet

Skylark Quartet officially came to life in 2021. Initially known as the Samuele Sorana Quartet—after the guitarist and composer who first had the idea to bring four musicians together to perform and develop his own compositions—the group took a new direction when double bassist and composer Tobias Melcher decided to use the same lineup to present his works as well. This led to the birth of a collective project under the name Skylark Quartet, featuring Samuele Sorana (guitar), Tobias Melcher (double bass), Patrick Joray (saxophone), and Marton Juhasz (drums).

With a repertoire already rich—thanks to the compositions of Sorana and Melcher—the band wasted no time in recording their debut album in December 2022 at the Jazz Campus studio in Basel, the city where the musicians first met and where most of them still reside
