Scott Marvill

Bassist Scott Marvill, a founding member of Freeport, is originally from Philadelphia, PA. His father, a jazz drummer, had a great effect on his early development. Scott remembers music always being played in his house and recalled that his Dad would go to the basement after dinner and play along with recordings. Scott joined in on any instrument found in the basement, be it bongos, a woodblock, the guitar, even a box. One day his Godfather, a jazz guitarist himself, showed Scott a version of the 9th chord, and that did it. He became a guitarist then at the age of 11. In his twenties, he found himself attendng Combs College of Music, playing gigs, teaching guitar and bass, traveling and being a session man at Ridge Sound Studios in Philly
