Dean Tsur

Born: 1988

Dean Tsur is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and bandleader originally from Israel and based out of New York.

Dean is a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition and winner of the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition and Carinthian International Jazz Award. Dean has performed with GRAMMY winners Roy Hargrove and Wynton Marsalis, and has played at iconic venues including Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Minton’s Playhouse, and Smalls, amongst others.

Dean has toured Europe, Asia, and America and has performed at various festivals including the James Moody Jazz Festival, Caramoor Jazz Festival, and Tel Aviv Jazz Festival, amongst others.

Ben Bryden

Born: August 14, 1986

Ben Bryden is a transatlantic saxophonist and composer combining a lyrical sound with a memorably melodic approach to composition. Born in Scotland and based in New York since 2009, he has performed with a multitude of admired musicians from the jazz idiom, (Will Vinson, Ben Wendel, Eivind Opsvik, Chris Lightcap, Kenny Wollesen and the legendary Les Paul) and at many of the city’s most loved venues (Cornelia Street Cafe, Zinc Bar, The Bar Next Door, Le Poisson Rouge, The Iridium) In Europe, he has collaborated closely with artists such as Steven Delannoye (Belgium), Phil Robson, Tim Thornton (UK) Reinier Baas and Mark Schilders (Netherlands), leading a number of groups and appearing at festivals and venues such as Ronnie Scotts, The Edinburgh Fringe, Glasgow Jazz Festival. Velocity

Velocity is a quartet based out of Tacoma, Washington that siphons off of a variety of musical styles including jazz, funk and fusion. The music combines hard-hitting grooves and hook melodies with open improvisation. The energetic original compositions are largely written by keyboardist Peter Adams, and arranged by Peter Adams and Brian Smith. Common time is uncommon with Velocity. Melodies are twisted and warped around each other. Solos are aggressive, yet bind the compositions to a set of defined rules and formulas. The sounds that you expect are not the sounds you get. Yuto Mitomi

Born: January 26, 1984

Yuto Mitomi is a saxophonist, woodwinds player, jazz composer, and arranger based in New York City. As an internationally recognized artist hailing from both Japan and the USA, Mitomi has garnered acclaim for his innovative approach to jazz and a distinctive sound that blends tradition with modernity.

After moving to New York City and graduating with a BFA in Jazz program from The City College of New York, Mitomi began performing regularly in the local jazz scene. He has appeared at venues such as Antique Garage, Shapeshifter Lab, and Rockwood Music Hall. Since 2016, Mitomi has been a regular performer at Tomi Jazz, a renowned jazz venue in New York City with over 20 years of history.

The Ed Palermo Big Band

Under the leadership of arranger/ composer/ bandleader/ saxophonist Ed Palermo, the Ed Palermo Big Band has been together since 1980, performing live around New York (NYC’s Iridium, Marlboro’s The Falcon) and at US and international jazz (and Zappa!) festivals, and recording albums to the delight of fans and critics worldwide. Ye Huang

Born: June 5, 1998

Ye Huang, born in 1998 in Shenzhen China. Clarinetist, Saxophonist, and composer. Ye is an enthusiastic young man who plays music across classical, jazz, pop and many genres. He started playing clarinet at the age of 9, studied with his mentor Yi Cheng, principal clarinetist of Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. At age 12, He was admitted by Juilliard Pre-College, with clarinet professor Alan Kay and jazz with Ron Blake. He is now attending New England Conservatory for both jazz performance major with Jerry Bergonzi. He is an Backun Clarinet artist. Ye started his career as a musician at very young age

Ada Rovatti

Born: July 25, 1976

Italian native Ada Rovatti started playing saxophone in high school after years of classical piano training.

After winning a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Italy she divided herself between Boston where she studied with Joe Viola, George Garzone and Fred Lipsius and Italy where she was regular working in Big Band with guest artists such as:  Phil Woods, Lee Konitz and many more.

 After spending one year in Paris touring Europe and Africa she moved in New York City. She has performed in important festivals  such as JVC in NYC Rochester Jazz Festival, IAJE, Detroit Jazz Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, San Francisco Jazz Fest, NorthSea Jazz Fest and a regular on the JazzCruise, appearing  and performing with an impressive and diverse list of artists and bands such as: Mike Stern, John McLaughlin,  Anne Ducros, Bob Mintzer, Victor Bailey, Joanne Brackeen, Tony Levin, John McLaughlin , James Moody, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Heath, Patti Austin, Joe Bonamassa and many others.

Mike DiRubbo

Born: July 25, 1970

In a jazz world of questionable infrastructure, shrinking media and variable degrees of artistic taste, one thing remains clear: New York City-based alto saxophonist, bandleader, composer and educator Mike DiRubbo has been the most swinging and soulful artist on his instrument for nearly 30 years. 

His new CD, Inner Light - his tenth recording as a leader,  is proof positive of his stature as a saxophone colossus. The 11-track, 65 minute recording features DiRubbo backed by longtime partners, organist Brian Charette, drummer Jongkuk Kim, and guitarist Andrew Renfroe. DiRubbo’s piercing and poetic sax tones have never sounded better. He’s supported by a rhythm section that recalls the searing sound of the legendary Newark organist Larry Young. The CD captures DiRubbo in a variety of Afro-Latin, 4/4, ballad and quiet storm moods and grooves, and it also features his first single, the radio friendly midtempo number, “Love the Same.”
