Hadley Caliman

Tenor saxophonist Hadley Caliman is part of the living history of jazz music in America. He performed, recorded and toured with musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Gerald Wilson, Carlos Santana, Dexter Gordon, Elvin Jones, Mongo Santamaria, Joe Pass, The Grateful Dead, Joe Henderson, Don Ellis, Flora Purim, Phoebe Snow, Bobby Hutcherson and many others. His influence on the sound of modern jazz music can be heard on many of his albums as a leader, including his newest release on Origin Records: Gratitude, featuring drummer Joe LeBarbera, vibraphone master Joe Locke and trumpeter Thomas Marriott. At 77 years old and now making his home in Seattle, Hadley Caliman is an active and vibrant part of the busy Seattle music scene, and continues to tour, teach and perform throughout the world. Al Belletto

Born:

Raised in New Orleans, red-hot saxophonist/clarinetist, Al Belletto was able to make the transition from traditional jazz to swing to bop. While working towards his undergraduate degree, Belletto led his own band. He then began playing around his New Orleans hometown with Sharkey Bonano, Louis Prima and Wingy Manone, plus The Dukes Of Dixieland. He started his own group in 1952 and recorded several albums on Capitol Records from that year on, later working in several clubs. Belletto's sextet was absorbed into Woody Herman's orchestra for a 1958 state department tour of South America and once again a year later.

Jay Beckenstein (born in Brooklyn, New York) is a saxophone player, smooth jazz artist and together with Jeremy Wall founded Spyro Gyra. He also owned a studio in New York that was called BearTracks Studios. He also played the saxophone solo on American progressive metal band Dream Theater's "Another Day", from the album Images and Words and single version of song "Through her Eyes", from the album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory. He also played a solo part in "Take Away My Pain" on the live album Once in a Livetime as well as "Another Day" during the performance of Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York. Jay's mother was an opera singer and his father's love of jazz introduced him to Charlie Parker and Lester Young when he was a baby

Georgie Auld was a jazz tenor saxophonist, clarinetist, and bandleader. Auld was born John Altwerger in Toronto. He lived in the United States from the late 1920s onward, and was most noteworthy for his work with Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Erroll Garner, Dizzy Gillespie, Al Porcino, Billy Eckstine, Tiny Kahn, Frank Rosolino, and many others. Primarily a swing saxophonist, he did many big band stints in his career, and led several big bands, including Georgie Auld and His Orchestra and Georgie Auld and His Hollywood All Stars.
