Matt Anderson

Originally hailing from the North Yorkshire Moors, London-based saxophonist and Dankworth Prize-winning composer Matt Anderson's fourth album 'Live at Leeds Jazz Festival' is out in March 2024, following on from 2022's 'The Town and the City,' both with his long-running Quartet. The son of a music teacher and based in Leeds for a time, Matt moved to London in 2015 to study at the Royal Academy of Music where he now coaches Junior Jazz ensembles.
Becoming part of the fertile jazz scene in the capital, he has since performed with artists/bands such as Greg Hutchinson (with the Jiannis Pavlidis Quintet), Ivo Neame, the Gareth Lockrane and Calum Gourlay big bands, Jamie Doe’s Magic Lantern and Hannes Riepler. Rooted in a deep love and respect for the jazz tradition from Sonny Rollins to Wayne Shorter as well as various rhythmic traditions from around the world, Matt’s music also explores more pastoral, spacious and folk-influenced sounds.

Matt Dacso trained as a tenor saxophonist under the skilled tutelage of Houston jazz legend Martin Langford and is a founding member of the Galveston-based Smooth Touch Quartet. He has played at numerous local events as a side-man to groups such as the Doug McKindley Variety Band, the Postoffice Street All-Stars, the Blues Monkeys, and the Line-Up with Willy Gonzalez. He currently lives and works in Gaborone, Botswana as a medical doctor specializing in the areas of HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases. He is honing his Afro-jazz chops by playing with southern African jazz legends Socca Moruakgomo, Banjo Mosele, Nana Coyote, and John Selolwane

Gordon Hyland

As a young boy, Gordon Hyland loved cars and computers, and wanted to be an aerospace engineer when he grew up. That dream was pushed aside, however, in his mid teens as he found himself irresistibly drawn into the world of music after discovering his grandfather’s record collection - and the siren songs of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Duke Ellington, Count Basie - as well as winning an unexpected opportunity to go on a junior high band trip to Japan. Since then, with his trusty tenor saxophone in hand, Hyland pursued the music life diligently, ultimately obtaining both a Bachelors in Fine Arts and in Music (Concordia and University of Toronto), as well as a Masters in Jazz Performance (U of T) with a focus on saxophone and electronics

Fil Lorenz

Born and raised in San Francisco, saxophonist Fil Lorenz has been active on the Bay Area music scene since returning from military service in 1998. From touring the world as a member of the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey orchestras to performing with artists Seal, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Howard Tate, Bobby Caldwell and many others, Lorenz draws from a wide range of musical experiences. As a saxophonist, Lorenz favors the broad-toned tenor sounds of Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis and Houston Person; baritone saxophonists Pepper Adams and Ronnie Cuber have provided a lifetime of inspiration.

Are You Sirius? is my debut album and features Harold Mabern on piano, John Webber on bass and Joe Farnsworth on drums.
My second album, Out Of This World, features italian pianist Nico Menci, John Webber on bass, Joe Farnsworth on drums and african percussionist Kalifa Kone.
