David Bindman

Born:
David Bindman is a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader living in Brooklyn, NY. He has performed and recorded with Wadada Leo Smith, Talking Drums, Kevin Norton, Ehran Elisha, Anthony Braxton, Adam Lane, and many others. He collaborated with poet Tyrone Henderson and visual artist Quimetta Perle on the multi-media pieces The Madman and Strawman Dance, and co-led the Brooklyn Sax Quartet with Fred Ho for a decade, recording The Way of the Saxophone (Innova, 2001) and Far Side of Here (Omnitone, 2005). In 2012 David released his ensemble’s double CD Sunset Park Polyphony. He is currently collaborating with visual artist Malin Abrahamsson on “The Dream Space Continuum,” a work involving music and abstract animation. Nick Rundle

Named by Jazzwise Magazine as one to watch in 2012, Nick Rundle is a professional contemporary saxophonist currently based in Birmingham, England. Nick has been busy on the Birmingham scene for the last few years, building a reputation for a high level of musicianship and artistry. Recently his exploits have led him to play at local venues such as Symphony Hall, MAC, CBSO Centre, Hare and Hounds and The Yardbird as well as the Birmingham, London, Cheltenham and Manchester Jazz Festivals. Nick is a member of Sid Peacock’s Surge, both in large ensemble and sax quartet form. Henrik Pultz Melbye

Henrik Pultz Melbye – saxophone/clarinet/composer. Born 1986 in Ribe, Denmark now based in Copenhagen. In 2011 he Graduated from The Academy of Music in Esbjerg with a Master in Music. In August of 2017 he will continue studies at the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma programme at the Rythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. In 2009 he moved to Copenhagen where he has been based since and has established himself as one of the very interesting musicians on the scene for improvised and experimental music with a personal sound and unique ideas. Since 2008 he’s co-lead the avantgarde rock group SVIN, which has released 4 albums and was in 2012 nominated as New Jazz Artist of the year at the Danish Music Awards Jazz and played at Roskilde Festival in 2017

Swedish saxophone player Elin Larsson (born 1984) has been referred to as ”phenomenon”. Her expressive and dynamic saxophone playing makes her one of the most interesting players on the Swedish jazz scene right now. 14 years old Elin started playing the saxophone and found her true voice. By the age of 20 she was accepted to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Elin’s carreer got started even before she graduated; debut album Live And Alive, released in 2009 with her own quintet Elin Larsson Group, was a major success in Sweden and was greeted with standing ovations from the press as well as from the audience

J'ai commencé avec le Sax Alto à onze ans dans un Groupe de New wave an début des années 80's avec mon frère et deux Amis d'enfance, puis à 16 ans, ma mère m'offrait un disque de Junior Cook. En cascade, je découvrai Parker, Coltrane, et bien d'autres noms juqu'à ce que je ne tombe émerveillé par le travail de Wayne Shorter sur " Speak no evil","JuJu"," Night dreamer", dont les harmonies si particulières et la poésie lunaire qui s'en dégagent nevaitme prennent des centaines d'heures dans mon petit appartement de la rue du Chai des farines à bordeaux où hélas, un type que j'avais voulu aider à sortir de la rue avait fini par emporter mon Mark 6 Selmer.....s'en était suivi une longue suite d'évènements tragiques(L'abïme conduit souvent à l'Abïme) dont il serait trop long de faire l'étal ici sinon que de raconter que huit ans après, ayant découvert à c�'té de chez moi deux musiciens avec lesquels j'ai pu apprendre des morceaux très complexes de musiques traditionnels d'Irlande, rencontrant des années après deux autres musiciens faisant la même chose, lors d'une tournée en Bretagne, allant acheter des anches dans un petit magasin de musique, je découvrais, O stupéfaction dans la vitrine, posé tel un trésor oublié, le saxophone que l'on m'avais volé ! Qui sait donc s'il existe des trames de la destinée...... Après tout ceci, et une longue dépression, je rencontrais une femme qui chantait et s'accompagnait à la contrebasse, qui dans une serre au milieu des plantes, était venue, m'écoutant jouer" Virgo "de shorter dans un coin, me proposer de faire un disque avec elle, que l'on peut écouter sur Myspace sous le nom de "JAZZ JONGLERS", très beau travail, arrangé sur place dans une jolie maison en Aquitaine et enregistré en une semaine, à "'arrache" comme on dit grâce au mécénat d'un homme qui nous avait remarqué lors d'une soirée organisée pour un anniversaire

Wataru Uchida

Wataru Uchida is a saxophonist and composer. He studied fundamental saxophone technique and jazz composition with Chico Freeman, who was a student of Muhal Richard Abrams, the composer and founder of AACM. In 2001, Wataru worked as a teaching assistant for Rory Stuart's rhythm analysis class at the New School University Jazz & Contemporary Music Program.
Since 2003, Wataru has been leading his jazz projects in New York. He began practicing straight-ahead jazz at his apartment with Terence Conley, former pianist of the Count Basie Orchestra, and performed with the legendary Bill Saxton, former soloist of the Count Basie Orchestra, in 2009.
