Fred Spek

Born: 1959

After hearing Boots Randolph and Louis Jordan on the cab radio, this ex 18-wheel truck driver ditches the stress of the road and picks up a saxophone. Lack of formal musical training can't stop a good guy from succeeding by being "bad". If Tiny Tim could do it, why not him and so Fred Spek trades the gear-shift for the wood-wind. He now leads and writes for his zany bachelor-pad lounge quartet CaMp CoMbO. Sax/singin', organ, guitar and drums.

Gregory Johnson

Greg Johnson has established himself as a luminary figure in the young Jazz community. As a student, he has garnered numerous accolades on the national and international levels. Honors include: winner of the Yamaha Young Artist Jazz Saxophone Competition, two-time finalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, Selectee for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency at the Kennedy Center and Ravinia Music Festival’s Steans Institute. Greg has won seven student music awards from Downbeat Magazine. Max Ionata

Born: August 29, 1972

Born in 1972, Max Ionata is considered as one of the most important jazz saxophonists in contemporary Italian Jazz scene. Although his late debut after having moved to Rome in 2005 and started his living only by music, Ionata has already gained a considerable reputation by international jazz critics and audience. He played at some of the most important jazz clubs and festivals in the world, also in collaboration with : Alvin Queen, Lenny White, Robin Eubanks, Reuben Rogers, Clarence Penn, Steve Grossman, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Bob Franceschini, Hiram Bullock, Joel Frahm, Miles Griffith, Andy Gravish, Anthony Pinciotti, Roberto Gatto, Dado Moroni, Giovanni Tommaso, Flavio Boltro, Lorenzo Tucci, Furio Di Castri, Fabrizio Bosso, Rosario Bonaccorso, Mario Biondi, Gegè Telesforo and many others. Scott Jeppesen

Born: October 25, 1976

Scott Jeppesen is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Montana State University Billings teaching Music Theory, Ear Training, Music History, Jazz Combo, and private lessons on saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Scott is an alumnus of the University of Southern California where he earned Bachelor of Music (BM), Master of Music (MM), and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degrees in Jazz Studies. Prior to accepting the position at MSUB, Scott lived in Los Angeles for seventeen years. In that time, he performed with Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, Burt Bacharach, Lalo Schifrin, Alan Pasqua, Bill Watrous, Shelly Berg, Manhattan Transfer, Stevie Wonder, Nancy Wilson, Artie Shaw, Bob Mintzer, Dave Brubeck, Natalie Cole, Louis Bellson, Al Jarreau, Steve Miller, Randy Brecker, and James Moody…just to name a few

Bobby Stern

Born in Rochester, New York, USA into a family of musicians and raised in New York City.

Steven Rogers is a composer, saxophonist, and teacher currently residing in Washington, DC. His compositions and performances encompass a number of styles including jazz, fusion, computer generated music, and concert band/orchestral pieces. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs with a minor in Jazz Studies from The George Washington University where he studied saxophone with Peter Fraize and composition with Dr. Douglas Boyce. Arnan Raz

Born: October 4, 1985

Influenced by the legacy of giants like Lester Young, Stan Getz and Warne Marsh, as well as the innovations of Mark Turner, Arnan Raz and his quintet create a refreshing fusion of the traditional and modern jazz. While clearly introducing/implementing elements of American and Israeli folk music, this band, in it's classic instrumentation of tenor sax, alto sax, piano, bass and drums, definitely has a 'New York' sound. With solos that successfully match the compositions in their extremely melodic and intuitive nature, the quintet delivers an energetic yet elegant performance, projecting both unity and harmony. Kęstutis Vaiginis

Born: September 6, 1978

Kęstutis Vaiginis, an initiator and leader of a number of international projects, revealed his compositional talent while still a student at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Prince Claus Conservatorium and Amsterdam School of the Arts (the Netherlands), as well as Manhattan School of Music in New York. Since then, as a member of various collectives the saxophonist (and flutist) performed his compositions not only in Lithuania, but also the Netherlands, Spain, France, the USA, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belarus. During his study years Vaiginis started composing for big bands as well

C. Grant Maledy

Born: May 5, 1981

Raised In Salem, MO where he started playing, Grant attended Missouri State University in Springfield, MO, earning a Bachelors of Music Education and most of a Masters of Music in Conducting (here's hoping for august). Grant has taught at public schools in Branson, Eldorado Springs and Odessa, MO and is currently in his first year as the Director of Instrumental Music in Sedalia, MO. He teaches privately in the area and can be contacted via this website for those interested.
