In early 2023, saxophonist and composer Oleksandr Kolosii presents his new project "Paws Up" released on the label Unit Records (CH) and featuring a special line up of musicans who made a significant impact on Oleksandr's career: Carl Winther - piano, Doug Weiss - double bass and Anders Mogensen - drums.
The music for this project began to come “into one frame” after personal changes in Oleksandr's life after marrying his life partner. “This is a very special project for me” says Oleksandr. After 12 years of living abroad, travelling to over 54 countries and living in Copenhagen since 2017, he decided to move out to the countryside and experience family life again. “It was like a breath of fresh air” after leaving his parent's house in his early 20s to pursue his musical dreams worldwide…

Tullia Morand enters the music conservatory of Joinville-le-Pont at the age of 6. Very fast specialized in jazz, she studies by multiplying the meetings with jazz masters: Rich Perry, Bob Mover, Eddy Daniels, Larry Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Grant Stewart, Dirty Dozen Brass band, Treme Brass Band etc. Strong of this experiences, she leads 3 bands: Tullia Morand Quintet, Big Band and Dixirella. At the same time she is a free lance musician in other groups: Cumbia Ya!, Jose Madera Jr Big Band, Ron Meza High Definition Big Band, Rido Bayonne Big Band, Francois Laudet Big Band, etc... and she plays with several singers: Sarah Lazarus, Tryo, Francois Morel, etc... Italian born and resident in Bologna, Stefano plays differernt styles including jazz, world, classical, modern sacred music based on early sources, film music, interdisciplinary performances and solo concerts. Formerly a self taugh he later graduated at the Conservatory of Bologna. His saxophone tone is distinctive for its purity, warmth and dark full sound. His playing is volatile and lyric, rich of expression and details, while the character of the compositions is varied, being modern, abstract or either traditional, embedded with an archaic flavour. Trained as a classical saxophone at the age of 11 years and then turns to jazz and improvised music following the teaching of saxophonist Thierry Maucci in Marseille (France). Interressed very early in the composition immersing himself in music from the Balkans and in drawing its inspiration from classical european composers (Ravel,Bartok, Berg ..) and american minimal music (Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Steve Reich...) Founding member of Monkomarok with whom he recorded four albums (three on the German label enja) and made numerous tours in France and abroad (Kuwait, Ukraine, Cameroon, Canada, Morocco ...). Plays and composes for the Lilliput orkestra, modern jazz quartet which received 4 jazzman stars for his first album. Currently leads the Grand Lilliput Ensemble orchestra with 10 musicians playing a directory of repetitive music especially composed for him. Collaborated for many years with the theater by the production of soundtracks (TPU, Clan des Songes), participated in cinema concerts with many musicians and write music for short films and DVDs. CURRENT COLLABORATIONS: - Theatre and dance with the hungarian dancer Denes Debrei (Joseph Najd Cie ) - Concerts with Didier Labbé on the show "White Night" concert film on eight animated films from 20 to 80 years. - Music composition and production of soundtracks for puppet shows with the “Clan des songes “ , “Fragile” puppet show will be played in New York in may 2013. - Various compositions for the music publisher Cezame Music Agency (Paris) for the audiovisual network http://www.cezame-fle.com

Reedman/bandleader Stan McDonald (Blue Horizon Jazz Band), who's especially admired for his soaring soprano sax playing in the Sidney Bechet tradition, recalls his many musical adventures with jazz greats and the years when he helped build the superb musical reputation of the New Black Eagle Jazz Band.
