Roland S. Wilson

Roland S. Wilson began his music career initial playing tenor and soprano saxophone. He doubled on bass in various bands around the New York City area in the late 70's. In the late 90's Roland designed a 5 stringed instrument he called a 'Tenor bass' which was in the key of Bb he used for solo projects. As a bass player, he has played with the likes of George Benson, Patti Label, Regina Belle, Cyrus Chestnut, J Julius Hemphil, Hafiz Shabazz,Mark Whitfield, Aaron Scott, Junko Onishi, Kitty Brazelton and Korean pop start Kim Jung Ho. He recorded his debut album titled Monochrome Dreams with double bassist Kiyoto Fujiwara, Aaron Scott on drums, Larry Coakley on vibraphone and himself on tenor bass.
