Raphaëlle Brochet is a unique vocalist who grew up in the world of jazz and trained in South Indian Classical music. Her innate talent for improvisation and her exceptional sense of rhythm, combined with her mastering of solkattu and Persian singing makes her one of the most astounding vocalist of the Montreal Jazz and World Music scene. Born to musician parents, Raphaëlle Brochet grew up in the world of jazz and was destined to become a performer. She recorded her first album at the age of 17 with Floris Nico-Bunink (Mingus, Billy Holliday) under the label Daybreak. After intense training in various conservatories in France she received a full scholarship from Wesleyan University and got a Masters of Ethnomusicology specialized in Carnatic Music. Raphaëlle’s collaborations are incredibly diverse and include musicians from various backgrounds, but also film directors (Amin Moghadam), theatre directors (Patrick Palmer), comedians (Sam Magdi) and dancers (Anand Satchidanandan, Shoko Yamamuro). Raphaëlle revealed herself as a music director presenting her first creation Wings That We All Have in 2010, and recently released an album with the collectif Arometis (Vision Diversité-K.Pone)
