AZ Lindy Hop Society

The Arizona Lindy Hop Society is dedicated to preserving vintage vernacular Jazz and Blues dance and music within the Arizona community through social dance and education in order to bring joy into people's lives. Founded in 1996, the AZ Lindy Hop Society promotes jazz dance and music through live concerts, workshops, classes, and exchanges. We also have an education outreach program teaching dance in the public schools.

Warren Jones

Warren Jones has spent more than 40 years as a bassist, composer, clinician and teacher. A graduate of the Arizona State University School of Music in 1986, he has taught in high schools, community colleges and in the ASU Jazz Dept. He appears with both local and national artists on over 60 CDs and DVDs. Mr. Jones has composed over 40 pieces of music for various sized ensembles. His compositions have been performed in the United States and Internationally. He can be heard on four of his own CDs, various recordings with Arizona based jazz greats, and over 50 recordings with the John Shea Trio, the new Robin Connell CD, and the new Kathy Lamar CD. Until recently, he currently resided in the Grand Rapids, MI area performing with The John Shea Trio and other west Michigan jazz musicians. He currently resides and performs in the Phoenix, AZ area. Blaise Lantana

Born:

Blaise Lantana grew up in Philadelphia playing piano and singing and started playing blues in Philly and New York. She eventually moved to Texas, studied guitar and voice at Texas A & M, Corpus Christi, and created a Latin Jazz band to play her original music at festivals in the southwest. In the 90s she moved to Phoenix and put together her band Cool train, playing swing, bossa and blues. Today you can hear Blaise on the radio at KJZZ 91.5 weeknights at 8. And you can hear her sing and play guitar with her band at different venues and events around the valley. She performed with her band at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix in November and the Musical Instrument Museum in March

Jeff Novotny JAZZPRJKT

Jeff Novotny is an independent composer/arranger of jazz and contemporary music. He has written for big band, concert band, jazz combos, steel drums, vocal groups, small wind groups, and solo instruments. His music spans a variety of styles, from stride piano to bebop, to third-stream and contemporary, and mixing these to create a polystylistic sound. He studied composition and philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Massachusetts. Dan Sieckman

Born:

American born Jazz Guitarist Dan Sieckman received a Bachelor of Music from Arizona State University in 1981. He played extensively in the Phoenix area during the late seventies and early eighties in a variety of jazz and commercial settings. Dan took a somewhat different path than many guitarists, primarily learning the jazz idiom from pianists including Dr. Tom Ferguson, Dan Hearle, and Chuck Moronic while at Arizona State. He has also participated in clinics with the likes of Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, and Barney Kessel, to name a few. Dan took a sabbatical from music for approximately 10 years, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and a career as a Senior Systems Engineer for a global data processing firm. Dan started playing professionally again in 1992 in Little Rock Arkansas and quickly became widely in demand in the central Arkansas area

Lenny King

Len King was a music educator in Illinois public schools for 35 years; leading all types of instrumental groups including bands, orchestras, and jazz bands. His jazz performing groups have attained national recognition for their excellence. His final teaching position was at Rolling Meadows High School where he served as Director of Bands and Music Supervisor. His past offices held in the music field include: National Treasurer and Board of Directors of the International Association of Jazz Educators; Vice-President and All-State Jazz Chairman for the Illinois Music Educators Association; Treasurer of American Federation of Musicians, Pekin Local; and President of the Illinois Unit of the National Association of Jazz Educators
