MUSICIAN Born:

Pete Malinverni

"When Pete Malinverni plays, the people listen", observed the New York Daily News. That’s no mean feat in the Mecca of Jazz. Indeed, Jim Macnie of the Village Voice was recently moved to call Malinverni, “audacious and exquisite”. Since coming to New York in 1981, Pete has established himself as a highly respected presence in local and national club and concert performances, as well as abroad in Europe, South America, and Japan, his work earning him an entry in the Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz, as compiled by Ira Gitler and Leonard Feather. Writing in the Charleston (SC) Post and Courier, Jack McCray called him “a fiery but elegant pianist”, and his varied collaborations stand as testament to his abilities

Pete Malinverni: Heaven

Il titolo di questo disco allude al cielo non in senso atmosferico. We have, in part, much to admire of the LA based Newman family for their reach in music and its training, in which composer, Anthony Newman was an insightful mentor to Malinverni's dedication. It would seem ...

Rosario Bonaccorso: A Beautiful Story

Read "A Beautiful Story" reviewed by Mark Corroto

What does Theodore Roosevelt have do do with jazz? The saying “speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far," is attributed to the American President (1901-1909). What isn't well known is that he borrowed the proverb from West Africa. Which brings us full circle to African Americans, and, of course, jazz. That same ...

New York City-based pianist Pete Malinverni is a spiritual man. It's a side of his musical personality that he explores with depth and clarity on Heaven, a mostly trio affair that puts his succinct feel for the sacred, his supple and exquisite touch and his improvisational elan in the forefront on a gorgeous set of music. ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
