He immediately fell in love with the instrument and joined the band programs in middle and high school, where he was a part of the marching band, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, and jazz band. He went on to win multiple superior awards at the state level and first place at competitions and participated in All-County and All-District Honor bands.
