Ines Velasco

Inés Velasco is a Brooklyn based composer, arranger and drummer born in Guadalajara, México. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with a dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance.

Ms. Velasco’s recent work includes compositions for the National Jazz Orchestra of México, string arrangements for the NY Philharmonic’s ‘Bandwagon’ series with vocalist Juana Luna, as well as Alina Engirbayan’s CD ‘We Are’ (GroundUP, 2018), orchestration/transcription work including Avenged Sevenfold’s last studio album ‘Life Is But a Dream (Warner, 2023), and for Snarky Puppy/Metropole Orkest’s performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2018. She was chosen to participate in the 2014 Metropole Orkest’s ‘Arranger’s Workshop’, under the tutelage of Vince Mendoza, where she arranged for jazz vocalist Gregory Porter.

David Najera Gonzalez

Born:

David Nájera González is a Mexican drummer, composer and educator currently based in NYC. Since his childhood, a strong gravitation towards music has acted as a driving life force. At the age of 19 he moved to NYC and attended the New School for Jazz And Contemporary Music.

David graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2021. After working for a year as a bandleader, sideman and educator, he decided to pursue a Master's degree at Queens College. There he was mentored by Dennis Mackrel, Antonio Hart, David Berkman, and Michael Mossman. He graduated in 2024.

​In 2021 he formed Patos, an octet ensemble for which he composed and arranged music up to 2022. He recorded five arranged compositions at Dimension 70 studios that were released on streaming platforms on February 9th, 2024.

Lawrence Fields

Lawrence Fields, born and bred in St. Louis, has earned a spot at the forefront of young jazz pianists, thanks to his blending of vintage ideals with a contemporary mindset. For the last five years, in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019, Downbeat Magazine has placed him close to the top of the keyboardist category in their “Rising Stars” critics poll. Fields showcases his own dynamic blend of composition and playing in his trio and quartet, and his music is currently being featured internationally. His debut album featuring his trio and solo playing, To the Surface, was released on February 2, 2024 to critical acclaim.

Mark J Miller

Mark grew up in Racine, Wisconsin and attended nearby Carthage College. In 1992 he moved toMinneapolis to study at the University of Minnesota with Tom Ashworth and Ron McCurdy. An ever-present sound on the Twin Cities music scene in the 1990s, he played with and composed for MotionPoets, Slide Huxtable, Happy Apple, and Jeanay Say Qua. Mark also performed with the Latin SoundsOrchestra, Salsa Del Soul, and the Intergalactic Contemporary Ensemble.

Mark was a founding member of the jazz sextet Motion Poets, in which he and the other members eachcomposed an eclectic repertoire of hundreds of pieces during their eight-year tenure (1993-2000).They recorded three albums: “Truth And Consequence”, “Standard Of Living”, and “Lose Your Mind AndCome To Your Senses”. Motion Poets also traveled extensively, performing in 37 states and werefeatured at many jazz festivals, including: San Jose Jazz Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, Discover JazzFestival, and the BYU Jazz Festival.
