Mr. Brunus’ mother and father were the leaders of a singing group performing in local clubs in the 1970s and his mother still performs locally, nationally and internationally

During the first 8 years of his life, his parents, Ed Polcer and jazz singer Judy Kurtz, owned Eddie Condon’s Jazz Club in New York, therfore, Ben said “that music has always been in my head”. In the early 2000’s, Ben helped found “Baby Soda”, a NYC jazz band that was made up of many different musicians at any given time, playing in parks, coffee houses and on street corners. The band was breaking new ground by taking their nostalgic music away from the usual classic jazz settings and finding new venues that attracted younger audiences

Cecile Savage
Cécile Savage was born in Martinique, French West Indies, and grew up in Paris, France, where she studied piano. She moved to New York City in the early 70’s where she studied guitar with Ted Dunbar and joined Sugar Blue’s Blues Band, playing electric bass. It is with this band that she toured Europe and Africa. She composed music for Sugar Blue’s album “Crossroads”. She moved to Chicago in the early 80’s, where she studied the acoustic bass with Steve Lester from the CSO, and in Madison, WI, with Richard Davis. Lionel Ferbos

At 102, trumpeter Lionel Ferbos is the oldest jazz musician in New Orleans. A native New Orleanian whose career has remained almost exclusively in the city, he appears weekly at the Palm Court Jazz Cafe, a French Quarter club, where he leads the Palm Court Jazz Band on Saturday nights. During his long career, Ferbos has worked with some of the giants of early traditional jazz, including Captain John Handy and Mamie Smith, and more recently with widely recognized contemporary revivals of the old style music like the original stage band of the off-Broadway hit “One Mo’ Time.” He has played at all of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals.
