Tumbledown House

“Launched in the drizzly climes of Portland, Oregon by smoky-toned singer Gillian Wolfe and producer, guitarist and harmony vocalist Tyler Ryan Miller, Tumbledown House has thrived since relocating to the Bay Area in 2012, honing a sinewy, speakeasy sound with some of the region’s finest musicians. Focusing on beautifully crafted original songs, the band balances spacious, loose-limbed arrangements with precisely calibrated dynamics and tightly coiled energy… Tumbledown House brings together instrumentation that evokes the small combos of the swing era, while delivering songs that feel as if they were composed the day after tomorrow.” - Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, 2019 San Francisco songwriting deviants, Tumbledown House, have never been easy to describe

Extended

Harbinger is the debut Origin Records release from Extended, one of New Orleans' brightest rising star ensembles. This sophomore outing improves upon the solid foundation set with 2017's eponymous debut, exhibiting a new attitude and focused maturity after three years of development. The 10 original compositions found here are penned equally by all three members of the band, and they each present a unique, deeply contemporary approach to composing for the piano trio setting. Drummer Brad Webb's rock-tinged melodies collide with pianist Oscar Rossignoli's dense nearly-classical harmonic approach, while bassist Matt Booth's impulse towards the avant-garde centers the three, keeping them from sliding too far to any extreme

Trumpeter Wendell Brunious said, “I admired the way he could go from style to style seamlessly and flawlessly.” On alto sax he was a fluent and inventive bopper, influenced by a cadre of post-WWII modernists who jammed after hours at strip clubs in the French Quarter

New Breed Brass Band

New Breed Brass Band lives and breathes the culture of New Orleans, infusing funk, rock, jazz, and hip-hop into a custom-made enhancement of second-line brass band tradition. “That’s what we came up under,” says snare-drummer Jenard Andrews of second line bands like the ReBirth, Dirty Dozen and Lil’ Rascals Brass Bands. “Now we’re trying to take that sound and bring in some new stuff and expand it. We bring outside influences like Earth Wind & Fire and Brass Construction, trying to interpret a different song for every genre, and make it all our own sound.” With a founding core of five New Orleans natives, New Breed Brass Band made its street debut as a nine-man unit in November 2013 at the Nine Times Second Line
