Michael S Glenn
Born:
Check out my albums at https://mikeglenn1974.bandcamp.com Growing up around musicians, I always wanted to try and learn guitar. I was going to start playing when I was 12, but the guy who was going to give me lessons, said that I just wanted to make noise, since I wanted to buy an amp for my guitar. So I got a little discouraged and started again when I was 17. At this point I was listening to jazz for the first time. I like to try and play things other guitarists and fans enjoy: two-hand tapping, sweep picking, whammy bar tricks, crazy effects, etc. My first group was a hip-hop band called ITIMS

Debbie Cunningham

"Soulful, romantic, elegant and sophisticated, an exquisite taste of jazz." These are just a few of the words that listeners have used to describe Debbie Cunningham's music. Vocalist Debbie Cunningham studied classical music at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Although a Tennessean for the last 2 decades, Cunningham returned to the city of brotherly love to record her debut CD with jazz pianist, Barry Sames. Sames had hounded her throughout her undergrad to give jazz a try but she resisted. Twenty years later, Sames won out. The result is an eclectic mix of jazz standards, pop tunes and an original bossa nova penned by Cunningham and a close friend

One of the very last survivors of the early days of jazz, trumpeter Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham attracted attention from the historically- inclined right up to his death in 1997 at the age of 91. Jeff Berlin
Born:
Jeff Berlin is a legend of the electric bass. Simply put, he is considered by many to be the finest electric bass player in the world. Surprisingly, he is a pioneer of slap bass when he brought this new percussive-style bass playing in 1979 to the second Bill Bruford album, "One of a Kind", on the tune called 5G. Jeff also pioneered two handed tapping when he performed this style on Motherlode from his 1985 release of his first solo album called "Champion". When these styles began to catch on with other bass players, Jeff stopped playing these styles.
