Musician

Monica Yngvesson

Born:

Monica Yngvesson is a jazz vocalist and a native of northern Sweden. Monica has performed as a soloist and with groups in festivals, concerts and churches in Northern Europe. In 1998, her musical interests took her to Boston to study jazz performance at Berklee College of Music. Her unique tone and improvisational style have made her a much sought-after vocalist, notably with the Vardan Ovsepian Quartet on their Fresh Sound recordings. Her voice serves to enhance the instrumental range of a group in the role of a string or woodwind. She has inspired composers, such as Vardan Ovsepian, Kaori Tanioka, and Andrew Kim, to write especially for her. As a performer, Monica has appeared at many venues in the Northeast, including jazz clubs such as The Regattabar in Cambridge, MA, and in concerts at the Center for Cultural Exchange in Portland, ME, and the Natick Center for the Arts, MA, among others
