Dan Sheehan

Born: April 21, 1988

Dan Sheehan is a Melbourne pianist/composer/improviser engaged in writing and performing original music. His work reflects passions for both the jazz tradition and post-jazz integration of 20th century classical ideals, and he aims to promote a distinct synthesis between improvisation and composition, regarding both elements as equally powerful devices in live performance. Dan studied at Monash University under Tony Gould, Marc Hannaford, and many of Australia's most prominent improvising artists. He graduated from Honours in 2012 after completing original research based on the music of Tim Berne, and has made numerous visits to NYC to study with Berne, alongside Ralph Alessi, Kris Davis and Jason Moran

Lisa Young is well known to World and Jazz Music listeners as a creative vocal stylist and improviser, incorporating Indian and African elements in her work. A longtime student of maestro Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani in Chennai, India, Lisa specializes in "Konnakol" - South Indian vocal percussion. She has studied South Indian music since 1994, both in Australia and in India. In 2010 she received the Monash-Pratt Post Graduate Award for her PhD Music Performance candidature at Monash University. Lisa Young Quartet's album "Grace" won the prestigious "Bell award" for "Best Australian Vocal Jazz Album" in 2007

Jeremy Woolhouse

Born: October 5, 1977

Jeremy Woolhouse is a jazz musician based in Melbourne, Australia. He is known as a composer and pianist in a variety of jazz settings. Jeremy also teaches piano and Alexander Technique. Born 5th October 1977 Jeremy had some early lessons on the Yamaha Electone, then switched to trombone before taking up piano at the age of 19. He studied music at Box Hill College of TAFE and Victorian College of the Arts before training in Alexander Technique at the School For FM Alexander Studies. Jeremy’s music became recognised in 2002 with the launch of a jazz - tango fusion project called “Estuary Three”

Simon Pilbrow

Melbourne based, freelance jazz pianist Learned classical piano and violin as a child, spent year in US 1979, studied briefly at Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Milwaukee 1979; leader of Monash Jazz Quintet (1980-82), Monash University Big Band 1982-3, solo jazz piano gigs 1980-now, Simon Pilbrow Quartet 1983-4, Julian Driscoll Quartet 1985-87; performed with Allan Browne, Gary Costello, Geoff Kluke, Ben Robertson; Nick Haywood; Edward York; opened for guitarist George Golla in June 1988; frequent lunchtime concerts at Monash University (1988-1991); house pianist Royal Derby Jazz Jam (1990); Graham Finch Quartet (1999-2002); "Dizzy's" Big Band (2004) and Peninsula Jazz Trio (w. Andrea Keller

Born: July 27, 1973

Andrea Keller is an Australian pianist, composer and improviser. She is an active member of Australia’s contemporary creative jazz community through multiple roles as performer, composer, arranger, recording artist, researcher, educator, mentor, and curator. Over the past two-decades she has devised and produced a large and varied body of work, confirming her dedication to the performance, creation, and nurturing of contemporary jazz and improvised music. Steeped in both jazz and Western art music traditions, her projects celebrate the wealth and diversity of Australian musicians and are centred on the creation of new music with an emphasis on improvisation and collaboration.

Nigel MacLean

Filmharmonix was formed by multi genre violinist Nigel MacLean in 1997 as a casual film orchestra to provide services for film composers. In particular, internationally renown film composer David Hirschfelder. Nigel worked in a variety of roles including Personal Assistant, Orchestral Director, Solo Artist, Assistant Producer and Notation Editor for Hirschfelder on films such as Elizabeth and Sliding Doors, Better Than Sex, What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted and The Interview. The mentoring provided by Hirschfelder set Nigel up with the necessary skills needed to provide film directors with the music services they are looking for on their film.
