His work ranges from straight ahead Jazz to contemporary and improvised music. He is currently most active with the group "This Is Pan"; the group name is a nod to the greek god of music and nature. Matthias Kohler was an artist in residence in Singapore, Hudson NY, France, Switzerland and Japan. He is active nationally and internationally; mostly with his own groups but also as a sideman.
