Matt Peterson

Matt Peterson is a multi award-winning composer and pianist from Seattle, WA.  He is an accompanist at the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, a piano and composition teacher at the Bellas Artes School of Music in Glen Ellyn, IL,, as well as an in-demand classical and jazz performer in the greater Chicago area.   He has taught class piano at Wheaton College and currently has a studio of 35 weekly private students.  He also records classical, jazz, and pop albums for Player Piano Premier.   He is the in-house pianist at Suzette's Creperie in Wheaton, playing every Saturday night from September to May.

Matt Peterson’s unique melodic and rhythmic approach to playing the bass has made him an important fixture on the Twin Cities jazz scene. He studied music at the University of Minnesota Duluth and relocated to Minneapolis in 2004. Since his arrival, he quickly became an in demand bassist. He regularly plays with Ingo Bethke, the Zacc Harris Trio, Monk in Motian and Robert Bell’s Hot Swing Combo. In addition to these groups, Peterson has shared the stage with countless others including Tanner Taylor, Jay Epstein, Arne Fogel, Nancy Harms, John Starkey, the Twin Cities Hot Club and more.
