Matt Greenwood

With melody as the guiding star, guitarist and composer, Matt Greenwood, seeks to create cinematic musical landscapes where composition and improvisation intersect. Having grown up in Zimbabwe and moved to Canada in recent years, Matt’s music is inherently nomadic, pushing against the confines of genre and geography.
Growing up in Zimbabwe meant access to music education or even equipment was limited but the country’s rich musical heritage and culture was an incredible thing to be a part of. Here in Toronto, Matt still stays connected to the country’s music through the Mbira, a traditional African instrument, which Matt incorporates into his live performances.
