The Osian Roberts/Steve Fishwick Quintet

Born: July 7, 1973

Steve Fishwick, his brother Matt, and Osian Roberts have been friends since 1994, when they met on the jazz course at The Royal Academy Of Music in London. Since then, the three have worked and rehearsed together on a regular basis in their own groups, as well as in the ranks of other bands (Mike Carr's Blue Note Quartet; The Matt Wates Sextet etc.). In 2001 they met a group of French musicians living in London who shared the same taste in music, and began to congregate weekly for an informal jam session, playing arrangements from their favourite records. Eventually, the group started to perform regularly on the London jazz scene (at the 606 Club, the 100 Club, and the Queen Elizabeth Hall etc.)

Anthony K Wright

Born: October 9, 1959

Tony began playing brass at school, before moving to Clarinet at the age of 12, and Saxophone a bit later. He turned professional in the early ‘80s, playing sax as a session musician in London, and running various rock bands in night clubs and on the gig circuit in London and South Wales. He maintained his interest in the Clarinet, and in the early ‘90s began playing jazz on the circuit in the West Country, whilst teaching on the Performing Arts syllabus at North Devon College. Moving to Surrey in ‘98, he is now widely known as a Reeds teacher, with students ranging from adult beginners to advanced Grade 8 and Diploma-level specialists

Mysteries Of The Revolution

Formed out of the rhythmic core of his famed Red Orchidstra (whose version of the theme from the seminal '71 Brit gangster movie Get Carter is acknowledged as a groove classic) BB DAVIS' MYSTERIES OF THE REVOLUTION is a collaboration between long-time musical associate French virtuoso keyboardist DAN BIRO and the much sought after UK bassist MARK SMITH. BB DAVIS, whose largesse and unmistakable electric performances are legendary, has grown in stature from the underground and whilst MOTR's eponymous album, in part, evokes the spirit of 70's fusion "psychedelica electronica" such as Miles, Herbie H, Zawinul and Lifetime, it's also a journey of intense emotional, passionate instrumental playing by all three protagonists who firmly place their own individual, indelible stamp on the music. Journeying from the light--the chorale intro to "Welcome"--through to the dark weirdness of "Moonfrog's Tucker" [a slight caress to Beefheart] the album takes a semi-filmic mystical/urban ride to the apocalyptic "Have You Seen Enough?" thence backing into the light once more with the ethereal end-piece "Evolution". Whether it be the earnest, full-on, passionate Hammond growling of "The Crunch", the subtle, driving "Romantica", the Arabic flavoured "Secret Fire" [inspired by a stay in the Moroccan old port city of Essaouira] the uniquely enigmatic 'The Elevation Of Mr Handy' or the slinky vibe of "Storius Sensorius" each track displays the unit's oneness and sense of purpose. As well as its retro-psychedelic experimentation the album also features BB's tour-de-force flute/beatvox piece "Big Buddah" [dedicated to one of his greatest influences Roland Kirk] which continues to stun audiences everywhere. But MOTR's not on any overt nostalgia trip

Leee John

“I started thinking about doing my first solo album ten years ago, and even then I really wanted it to be a Jazz record. Over the years, I’ve written certain songs that felt were right for a jazz-flavoured album but I just didn’t feel that I was ready, either vocally or experience-wise...” So speaks Leee John, world-renowned recording artist and performer best known as the lead singer for Imagination, the internationally popular pop, dance and soul team whose sales of CDs, albums, singles, videos and DVDs now exceeds some twenty-million copies, starting with the double gold LPs “Body Talk” and “In The Heat Of The Night” and encompassing the classic hits “Just An Illusion,” “Music And Lights” and “Changes.” Time has passed and, with a slew of recent credits that include a starring role in the popular 2003 ITV show, “Reborn In The USA,” Leee John �" who has written songs for such artists as MOBO winner Pete Hunnigale, Maxi Priest, Alison Limerick and Ultimate Chaos among others, and has worked with top producers and musicians including Frankie Knuckles, Arthur Baker, Nick Martinelli, David Morales, Tony Humphries and Mike Pickering - has deemed himself ready for that first all-important solo set

25th Street Band

Born: May 18, 1961

The 25th Street Band was forged in the fire of London's Jazz Rock/Funk circuit in the late 80's and early 90's. They have worked with George Michael and Imagination amongst others. Ben McDonnell

Born: October 23, 1981

Guitarist Ben McDonnell has been based in London since he graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2004. In that time Ben has performed and recorded for countless bands and venues. He has performed all over the world as far afield as Asia with Mongolian star Naran in Ulan-Bator, Mongolia, but also closer to home in numerous clubs and bars as well as more notable venues such as the Royal Albert Hall. In addition to playing and composing for his own band Aleph Trio with Ben Bastin and Chris Packham, Ben also plays with the Jeremy Lyons Quartet, pop act Glass Pear and singer Neil Vezina. Ben teaches guitar at Blackheath Conservatoire of the Arts and Haverstock School

Michael Ball

MICHAEL BALL's beautiful new cd, Back To Bacharach, is an impressive choice of classic tunes from the legendary composer's outstanding canon of work. Back To Bacharach reflects Michael's personal favourites and catapults him into a new musical direction. "I've recorded a few Bacharach songs over the years and performed some in concert and always felt they suited me," says Michael. "I love the stories, and the lyrics (many by Hal David) have always struck a chord with me, especially on the more serious numbers. Bacharach has such a brilliant ear for melody and his music has a completely timeless feel to it; I thought it would be great to do a whole album of his music and to record with a full orchestra and big band which is something I hadn't done before
