Jack Davies

Born: February 6, 1986

Having completed his classical training at the Royal Northern College of Music, Jack is currently studying jazz trumpet at post-graduate level at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Jack studies jazz trumpet with Gerard Presencer, Nick Smart and Pete Churchill. At the RNCM, he was a regular member of the RNCM Big Band with who he played with such figures as Norma Winstone, Colin Towns, and Chris Potter. In his second year at the RNCM he won the college's solo brass competition, the Goronwy Evans Brass Prize, and in his third year was awarded with the Terence Greaves Prize for Big Band Composition (for his work with The Sound of the North Big Band)

Tomas Challenger

Born: February 18, 1983

Tomas Challenger is a leading figure of the young progressive jazz/improvisation scene in Britain. He is both a saxophonist and composer, and leads many of his own projects. He is also an active sideman and educator, and works in a variety of contexts. He has worked with, amongst others: John Taylor, Mike Garrick, Don Rendell, Julian Joseph, Clark Tracy, Chris Bowden, Lol Coxhill, Charles Hayward (This Heat), John Edwards, The London Jazz Orchestra, Stan Sulzmann, Gwilym Simcock, Pete Wareham (Acoustic Ladyland), The Herbaliser, Chris Bowden, Tim Holmes (Death in Vegas), Elan Mehler, Jose James and Jeremy Warmsley

Tomas Čiučelis

Born: January 26, 1981

London based Lithuanian guitarist and composer T.Ciucelis has performed extensively since the late 1990s. After almost a decade of playing in various venues around Europe with his jazz trio, he moved to London. Ciucelis's most consistent output over the last years has taken place in the solo format. Being an inspiring improviser, Tomas demonstrates his highly personal approach to jazz guitar by balancing composing, improvisation and live looping techniques.

Filomena Campus

Internationally renowned and award winning Sardinian jazz vocalist/lyricist, producer and theatre director, Filomena Campus lives in London and Berlin. She has toured and collaborated with top UK jazz musicians including Paolo Fresu, Evan Parker, Guy Barker, Orphy Robinson, Huw Warren, Byron Wallen, Cleveland Watkiss, Jean Toussaint, Antonio Forcione, Tony Kofi and the London Improvisers Orchestra (Filomena features in the CD by the LONDON IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA: Improvisations For George Riste’). In 2010 Filomena founded the ‘Filomena Campus Quartet’ with Steve Lodder, Dudley Phillips and Winston Clifford

Cai Marle-Garcia

Born: April 14, 1986

UK-based Cai Marle-Garcia, aka 'MR. EARS', is the driving new force on the international bass scene. Adept on both fretted bass and his favoured fretless bass, the 23-year- old has experience of performing and recording jazz, funk, pop, soul, r’n’b, hip-hop, rock, latin, fusion and world music. From leading his own jazz/rock fusion group with original compositions to recording a spontaneous but highly successful and effervescent debut solo album in 2008/2009, Cai’s journey is certainly one of self-discovery as well as a quest to breathe new life into the jazz scene. Cai’s love for jazz only started to blossom when he joined the renowned Weekend Arts College (WAC) aged 16

Michael Janisch

Born: February 2, 1979

Michael Janisch has established himself as a tireless creative force across the developing international spheres of contemporary improvised and experimental music.  Based in London (originally from the USA), he successfully traverses this creative topography as a first-call electric & double bassist, MOBO-Award nominated solo artist, composer, prolific producer, and owner of Whirlwind Recordings, which has become one of the world’s premiere indie labels of the last decade.  Janisch’s previous solo albums have been nominated for multiple industry awards, while getting radio spins on Gilles Peterson, NPR, WDR, BBC, JazzFM shows as well as coverage in Jazzwise, Jazz Thing, Downbeat & Concerto Magazines, The NY Times & Guardian and beyond to international acclaim.  His new album Worlds Collide is an electro-acoustic album of original material recorded at Abbey Road Studios and has been described as combining contemporary jazz heavily influenced by both the London/New York scenes alongside free improvisations and soaring melodies over multi-metered grooves, paying hommage to artists such as Feli Kuti & Afro-Beat and the electronic music pioneer Aphex Twin

Andrea Mann

Andrea Mann's relaxed and smoky vocal style has been compared to those of Diana Krall and Julie London. But her mixture of classic material from the Great American Songbook, Brazilian bossa novas and arrangements of pop songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Coldplay - as heard on her debut album 'Photograph' - makes her approach to jazz singing unique as well as accessible and easy on the ears. Andrea has been singing professionally for just four years. Based in London, and working with some of the finest musicians in the UK, she now performs at jazz venues, private parties and corporate functions all over the country - and the places she has played include the Oxford Jazz Festival, 606 Club, Kensington Palace and the Royal Society of Arts

Fred Thomas

Born: May 12, 1985

Fred Thomas is one of London’s most sought after multi-instrumentalists and composer/arranger/producers, known for his breadth of musical styles as well as for specialising in creative re-interpretations of J.S. Bach.

Thomas has collaborated with a huge variety of artists worldwide including Brian Eno, Yo-Yo Ma, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Jordi Savall, Meredith Monk, Jarvis Cocker, Rachel Podger, Elizabeth Kenny, Ethan Iverson, Larry Grenadier, Benoît Delbecq, Kit Downes, Tamara Stefanovich, Abel Salaocoe, Leo Abrahams, Kadialy Kouyate and Olivia Chaney. He has released a large discography of albums across various genres, particularly classical and jazz, and is published by Spartan Press and Edition Wilhelm Hansen.

Shabaka Hutchings

Shabaka Hutchings, a saxophonist, band leader and composer, part of London’s community of younger jazz musicians as well as the city’s thriving improvised music scene. For Hutchings, composition is a chronicle of the zeitgeist inhabited by a composer; an exposition of his or her search for meaning and the structuring of experiences in aid of recognising this meaning when it appears. As part of the Caribbean diaspora, he sees his role as that of pushing the boundaries of what musical elements are considered to be Caribbean. Constantly evaluating the nature of his relationship with musical material and tradition, he describes his attempts at composition as wrestling matches with questions of where and how the Caribbean can be encoded, and what happens when it is exposed to the western classical music cannon. Jeanie Barton

Born: August 18, 1978

Jeanie is a jazz singer/songwriter.

Born in Nottingham, England, she started her musical career as a principle with the National Youth Music Theatre and continued her education at the University of Warwick.

Having studied jazz harmony at Morley College in London and bebop improvisation with BBC award winner Anita Wardell, Jeanie gigs regularly to sustained acclaim with her quartet and in other ensembles. She is proud to work with some of the best musicians on the British jazz scene today performing standards alongside her compositions around the UK and beyond. She also fronts the function band "Jazz and Cocktails" and is compere for the Laurie Morgan Trio. She now resides Crouch End, North London.
