As a vocalist and keyboardist he began a touring career in 1978 when offered a position with R&B band Merging Traffic and remained with the group for five years. Then followed a 50s/60s group T-Bone & Ovid for a second five years during which he began studio session recordin and jingle writing for local businesses. Also during this time he has played with Percy Sledge and The Drifters
