Jurandir Santana Jurandir Santana, guitar player, that was born in 1970 in Bahia state,Brazil.Began in music on popular guitar at the age of ten years old 1995 • 1999 - He participated for four years in project Jazz MAM and put on shows with artist like : Nico Assunção, Arthur Maia, Marcio Montarroyos, Raul Mascarenhas, and Delmar Brown, keyboarder of Miles Davis Group. 1999 - He put on some shows with the guitar player Nelson Veras ( Nelson is one of the best guitar player from europe). In the end of the same year he participated in Terça do Jazz project, as a special Guest. 2000 - He Won the prize of Brazilian music by Itau Cultural, and recorded a Cd with many Brazilian artists. 2001 He played with the American Saxophonist David Richards on Terça do Jazz, took part in Só Brasil in X Bahia Jazz Festival and was considered the revelations of festival. In the same year he made a great show in Itau Cultural Festival in São Paulo city. Jurandir Santana invited on the flute Léa Freire. 2002 He made some shows with the American saxofonist from New York Grant Stewart, and played with another american saxophonist in Vandy Harris Group. Jurandir Santana played in a African Market Place festival in Los Angeles city. He had five nominations to Caymmi Award of music with Só Brasil show, and won the award for the best arragement with the song Embaraçado. 2003 Jurandir Santana, recorded with the Sweden drummer Fredrik Knoren the Cd Connetion Bahia Sweden. Played with the Bass player from Chicago Math Fergusson and the Brazilian jazz singer Ithamara Koorax . He made shows in Campo de Goitacazes Festival in Rio de Janeiro, and the International Festival of Mercado Cultural. The end of the year he made a Special to Cultura Tv in Brazil. 2004 He was invited to go on 3 months tour in Turkey and Europe, as a guitar player Yabas percussion group music director. 2005 In February 2005 Jurandir Santana was invited to participate in the Danish piano player Thomas Clausen Sextet group show of Bahia instruental music. He was also an Award winner in the music category in the Braskem Art and Culture Award. 2006 He has release his first debut album, Só Brasil, with witch he won the Braskem music award in 2005. He was chosen to take part in the Brasil Circular Project, making the cd release shows in four different capitals of Brazil ( Salvador, Belo Horizonte , Porto Alegre, and Vitória ), culminating in a tv special program by Rede Minas ( Minas Broadcasting ) recorded in Belo Horizonte city. He was nominated by the Dinamite Magazine of São Paulo, as the best instrumental music Album of 2006. Touring around Brazil, Jurandir, took part in several shows in Aracaju, in the BNB Festival in Fortaleza, and the SESC Brasil instrumental music in São Paulo. He also played with Gal Costa and the Bahia Orchestra in a show held at the concha Acústica in Salvador Bahia. 2007 He made a tour in Europe with the support of Brasil Culture Ministry, and showed the Cd Só Brasil in cities as like Barcelona, Lisboa, Oviedo, Roma, Bari, Santiago de Compostela , Palma de Maiorca and La Corunã.
