Born:

Jorge Arévalo Mateus is a Colombian-born musician/composer, ethnomusicologist, and curator/archivist. A Grammy-winning producer (2008), and ASCAP Deems Taylor Award-winning author, with an MA in Ethnomusicology from Hunter College (CUNY), Jorge is completing a PhD at Wesleyan University; his areas of specialization are Latin American, Caribbean, Jazz and Popular Musics. As curator/archivist for the Woody Guthrie Foundation and Archives since its founding in 1996, he has developed exhibitions for major museums and institutions such as the Experience Music Project, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, and the Smithsonian Institutional Traveling Services (SITES)
