Jean Caze

Winner of the 2006 International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition, and the 2004 National Trumpet Jazz Competition, Jean Caze has emerged as one of today’s most exciting new voices in jazz. Though only twenty-four, Jean has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Najee, Arturo Sandoval , John Fadis, Randy Brecker, and Bob Mintzer, to name a few. Jean also played with the legendary rock group “Chicago” live on NBC, and has opened for the Wynton Marsalis Quartet. Brian Lynch Big Band: The Omni-American Book Club / My Journey Through Literature in Music

Read "The Omni-American Book Club / My Journey Through Literature in Music" reviewed by Jack Bowers

Aside from being a multi-award-winning trumpeter and composer, Brian Lynch appears to be an avid reader and social arbiter as well. His twenty-third album as leader, a two-CD set whose protracted and austere name, The Omni-American Book Club / My Journey Through Literature in Music, belies its bold and free-hearted nature, is dedicated to a number ...

Leon Foster Thomas: Metamorphosis

Read "Metamorphosis" reviewed by Dave Wayne

Throughout the history of jazz, what once seemed to be oddball instruments have inexorably become part of accepted sonic landscape, while others have fallen into disuse. It's hard to believe that the vibraphone, flute, and violin were once seen as un-swinging, non-jazz instruments, while the banjo and tuba were considered essential linchpins of the jazz sound. ...

Pauline Jean: Nwayo

Read "Nwayo" reviewed by James Nadal

One cannot properly realize the music of vocalist Pauline Jean without delving into the history of Haiti, as they are intrinsically intertwined. She has the innate ability to seamlessly flow within her ancestral culture while very much being the modern artist living the creative life. Her sophomore release Nwayo--Haitian Kreyol for core or center--is an amalgam ...

Jesse Fischer: Day Dreamer

Read "Day Dreamer" reviewed by James Nadal

If there is a recognition for a musician in perpetual engagement to his craft, Jesse Fischer would certainly be in the running. The versatile pianist, arranger, engineer, and producer has been on a creative tear since 2011 when he released “Homebrew" with his group Soul Cycle. This was quickly followed in 2012 by “Retro Future," under ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
