J.E. Chapman's music is American music born of the 20th century which finds life in the 21st century. He believes that Jazz music is an American musical tradition worthy of any and all ensembles and his music is always rich with that tradition. He holds a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University in Trombone performance/Jazz Studies, a M.M. from Western Illinois University in Music Composition/Jazz and a D.M.A. in Music Composition (with a jazz emphasis) from The Conservatory of Music at The University of Missouri, Kansas City.
