Jadir de Castro

Born:

Brazilian drummer, percussionist and composer. He mixed standard drumming with Afro-Brazilian percussion. Jadir de Castro lived in Europe for many years during the 1950s, and appears as an actor and musician on the French movie "And God Created Woman," starring Brigitte Bardot. 

He released several albums as a leader for RCA, Sideral, Barclay and other lanbels, and also worked extensively with Nora Ney, Dom Um Romão and Ithamara Koorax. His final solo album was produced by Arnaldo DeSouteiro and engineered by Toninho Barbosa, featuring Azymuth's founder José Roberto Bertrami on keyboards, Jorge Pescara on bass, Dom Um Romão and Marcelo Salazar on additional percussion.
