Jack Riotte

Born:

Jack began studying alto sax in the summer before fourth grade, age 8, with Cheryl Weiner. Played alto in school bands grades 4 and 5. Switched to tenor sax summer between grades 5 and 6 at the behest of his band director, Tim Fisher. September 2009 acquired his much revered The Martin tenor (1949) and began studying with Tim Moran. November 2009 began playing out at Black Eyed Sally’s (Hartford) jam. April 2010 made a member of the Black Eyed Sally’s Bar-b-que Horns (named Babyback Jack). Connecticut Music Educators Association regional jazz band member 2012 (Strong School, Steve Fitzgerald director) and 2013 and 2014 (CRHS, Dean Coutsourides director). Shoreline Jazz Collective band member 2012, 2013 (Member of the Select Combo), 2014. Performed at Somethin’ Jazz and The Cutting Room (with Jason “Malletman” Taylor) in New York, with The Convertibles, Tony (Dioguardi) and Rickie (Miller), “Guitar” George Baker, the Greg Glover Band, Eight to the Bar, B Willie Smith, G Tree, Joe Cohn, Ct Blues Challenge winner Danny Draher, Barry Reis, Kent Hewitt, Donn Trenor, Rhon Lawrence, Peter Hand and many others. Jack is a student at CRHS and ECA can be found Wednesday nights at Black Eyed Sally’s (if it’s not a school night) and Saturday afternoons at Café 9 (New Haven) as well as on Youtube and at many upcoming shows (website under construction)
