Musician

J Michael Grey

Trained as a pianist and composer, in the late 60s John traded an analog Moog synthesizer for a computer and became one of the first hundred or so people on the planet to be involved in digital music technology. Soon after, he cofounded the computer music center at Stanford and started sampling orchestral instruments in the pursuit of making naturalistic, beautiful instrumental sounds with digital tech. His work helped in the development of the first digital keyboards, in particular the DX7. At that time he also helped Pierre Boulez and Luciano Berio in the founding of IRCAM in Paris. He currently works on producing arrangements for singer/songwriter Hazal Selçuk.
