Sergio Pereira

Born:

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I started playing acoustic guitar (violao) at the age of 8 years old, influenced by my older brother who played the guitar and helped me with my first chords. I have also been influenced by the music of bossa- nova giants at the time such as Joao Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Joao Donato, Marcus Valle and many more. Growing up in Rio in the 60’s and 70’s has contributed tremendously to the energy, groove and rhythms reflected in my music today.

Moving to New York in the 80’s has motivated me to, not only continuing playing the guitar, but to further enhance my knowledge of music and the guitar itself, hence I started to study with some of the jazz greats including Chuck Wayne, Sal Salvador, Alex Adrian, Hui Cox and Joe Carter. Since the beginning of the 90’s I have been travelling the world, playing with different bands and at various venues in many different countries in Europe, Africa and elsewhere.

Robert Dunn

Born:

I was born into the sort of family that made me want to stay by myself in my room practicing guitar & writing songs. Somehow I developed this mindset where I felt drawn to the surreal/abstract so I gravitated to music that that was that way (psychedelic, Hendrix, Doors, Beatles, etc.) I began studying jazz and as I progressed through bebop, hard bop, modal and into the 'avant garde' or free jazz I began to absorb these genres and developed my own musical approach. I did put together musical units mostly in LA, and where I currently reside - the San Francisco Bay Area that did attract some attention and this is what I am continuing to do to this day.

Joanna Davies

Born:

Which two letters get you from 'rock' to 'rocket'? Easy: J and O. Joanna Davies is the rhythmic foundation of FiddleBop, the rock on which we're built. She is the band's powerhouse, our very own rhythmic rocket. Her nylon-string acoustic rhythm guitar playing brings more than a dash of fiery flamenco duende to FiddleBop's sound! And Jo sings too, both solo and in harmony. Joanna Virginia Fernley Davies — that's her full name — has enjoyed listening to jazz for as long as she can remember. She used to go with her father to hear live jazz at Chipping Norton Theatre on Sunday lunchtimes; later, Jo became a regular listener at Banbury Jazz Club (at the Moat House Hotel, who remembers it then?). But as a music maker, Jo is from a mainly folk background

Musician

Samuel Bonnet

Born:

Samuel Bonnet’s music is an instrumental sound exploration traversed at the same time by the improvised tones of jazz and the melancholy of blues. At the crossroads of several musical universes, the guitarist manages to create an eclectic meeting space between classical and contemporary, somewhere at the crossroads of the natural resonance of classical guitar’s nylon strings and jazz inspirations. Through his music, Samuel Bonnet thus tells us his intimate and personal history in continuous dialogue with his plural roots. His musical universe breathes the perfume of acoustic colours, the memory of the uprooting and the nostalgia of a nomadic spirituality
