Fred Jacobs

Born:

Fred Jacobs is a jazz trumpet player, arranger and composer, who has toured all over with some great jazz legends, including Lionel Hampton, Eddie Palmieri, Jimmy McGriff and Buddy Rich. His debut CD, TIME CHANGE, featured Dave Kikoski - piano, Rufus Reid - bass, Bill Stewart - drums, Scott Kreitzer - sax, et al. It charted #22 with The Gavin Report and was an R&R 60% jazz breaker. His latest work in progress, Jacobs' Ladder, is due out soon. Fred's musical approach: "I always want to swing, sound good, be different and creative, and show a spirit that stirs something in people... When you're improvising, some play licks, and some try to be more creative, more adventurous, and compose on the spot."
