Federico García Lorca

Born: June 5, 1898

Federico García Lorca was one of Spain’s most celebrated poets and playwrights, renowned for works that combine lyrical beauty, emotional intensity, and a deep connection to Andalusian culture. His best-known plays include Blood Wedding, Yerma, and The House of Bernarda Alba, while Gypsy Ballads remains among his most acclaimed poetry collections. His writing explored love, desire, repression, freedom, and the enduring power of music and tradition.

Lorca’s artistic world extended beyond Spain. During his 1929–1930 stay in New York City, he encountered a vibrant, modern metropolis that profoundly influenced his poetry, particularly Poet in New York. His fascination with music, especially the passionate rhythms and expressive power of flamenco, offers a compelling connection to jazz and the blues. All three traditions give voice to longing, struggle, joy, and sorrow, blending structure with improvisation and technical mastery with raw emotion.

Stefan Vale

Born: June 16, 1966

Originally from Washington DC and New York City, Stefan Vale has been an accomplished Indie music recording artist ever since the mid 1980s (of various musical genres). A multifaceted musician, producer, and composer, with numerous albums, singles and music videos to his credit, he has performed live before thousands of people at venues all over South Florida including at Carnaval Miami, the Miami Art Basel festival, on TV shows and live on-air appearances on several radio stations (including 88.9 FM Miami WDNA and NPR affiliate WLRN). His music has been nominated for several Indie Music awards and has been featured on several TV commercials and original movie soundtracks.

Mark Towns

Mark Towns is a virtuoso trailblazer of guitar-based instrumental Afro-Caribbean Jazz, composing and performing music which blurs the lines between Latin Jazz, Flamenco Jazz, Brazilian Jazz, Salsa, Funk, and Fusion. With grooves inspired by traditional Latin Jazz masters Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Cal Tjader, Mark's guitar work and arrangements combine the technical sophistication of Jazz and Flamenco with the down-to-earth feel of the Blues and Rock from his Texas upbringing to create something brand new. As Down Beat Magazine writer Paul MacArthur says, “Mark Towns isn’t just playing Latin Jazz, he’s making sure it continues to evolve.”

Ángela Varo

Born: June 15, 1997

Ángela Varo Moreno is an Andalusian violinist, composer, producer, and educator whose music is a vibrant fusion of jazz and flamenco, deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of her region. Recognized for her exceptional talent, Ángela was awarded a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where she completed a double degree in contemporary writing and production, and jazz performance, as well as a minor in jazz composition, all graduating with the highest honors. She later earned her Master of Arts in Jazz Performance from the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute.

James Robinson

Born: July 15, 1964

"The 12th of 13 children, Silicon Valley raised virtuoso James Robinson was blessed to have the guitarisma in his DNA, with six of his eight brothers playing guitar and offering him a wide array of inspirations and access to top instructors from an early age. Legendary three-time Grammy winning hard rock/metal maestro Steve Vai once gushed of Robinson’s multi-faceted talents for Latin, World, Jazz, Flamenco, Middle Eastern, Rock, “He’s phenomenal,” and he should know. Vai signed him to his Favoured Nations Acoustic label for the release of Colours in 2005. Larry Carlton expressed “James is an extraordinary talent that deserves to be heard.”

Repair Cafe

Born: October 30, 1965

Spain meets Jazz, Flamenco kisses ambient.... nothing true, everything in new combination, like a salsa made from ingredients, everybody knows, But in the end it is a new taste. Repair Cafe is named after the story of Cameron de la Isla, who had his first gigs in a cafe that was opened 24 hours cause they were a service station for motorcycles too. That is the mixture - bikes and bare foots.

The New Acoustic Collective

The New Acoustic Collective features many of the top up-and-coming jazz, bluegrass, and classical musicians in the Bay Area, combining a variety of strings to bring a modern and unique sound to the New Acoustic Music canon. The collective includes band leader and composer Jason Keiser (guitar), Rodrigo Ruiz (arco/pizz. double bass), and Nathaniel Grohmann (cello). The New Acoustic Collective has released 2 albums previously including "Buckwild" released December 27th, 2020, and "Art of Acoustics" featuring special guest; Wyatt Rice on September 20th, 2021. After their "Art of Acoustics" album release, The NAC traveled on tour to North Carolina, where they performed as Official Showcase Artists in the International Bluegrass Music Associations World of Bluegrass, as Official Showcase Artists performing in the Bluegrass Ramble

J.Q. Whitcomb

Born: March 12, 1979

Trumpeter and composer J.Q. Whitcomb doesn’t just play jazz. He creates moods. From poignant, reflective tenderness to brash and boisterous exuberance, his compositions evoke adventures and romances, his trumpet playing the ever-adaptable thespian that commands every ear’s attention to the end.

Tales of Enchantment (2014), is J.Q.’s second album as bandleader. Recorded in New York City, the album features J.Q.’s quintet Five Below in a new instrumentation playing all original arrangements. Except for an adaptation of the Depeche Mode 80s pop song Enjoy the Silence, all the pieces on the album are J.Q.’s original compositions. In this project, J.Q.’s writing has incorporated more odd meters to round out the modern compositional sound he has continued developing since the release of Airports, as well as exploring even more deeply the range of emotional textures the quintet setting can evoke. From the angular melodies in “Synapse” to the rich, luscious harmonies in “And the Rains Came”, this album brings listeners on an epic adventure, telling tales of faraway and most enchanting places. Philip Adie Trío

Born: January 8, 1970

The Philip Adie Trio is a Jazz Flamenco group from Seville playing original music composed by the guitarist Philip Adie. Philip along with Luis Salto (double bass) y Nacho Megina (drums & percussion) play an eclectic variation of Flamenco integrating jazz and improvisation into their repertoire.
