Evergreen

Born:

Evergreen is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and cello teacher who grew up in the vibrant Austin music scene. Raised as a classical cellist, by the time she was 25 she had performed on stage with musicians such as Sarah Chang, Father John Misty (opening for Paul McCartney), Chris Brubeck, members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Eagles. After leaving conservatory, she studied Afro-Indigenous Brazilian folk music and studied improvisation with cello goblin Rushad Eggleston.  Evergreen utilizes music to creatively and emotionally empower people of all ages and from all walks of life by maintaining a private lesson studio as well as by participating in musical and workshop collaborations with her colleagues in Austin and abroad.

Evergreen from trumpeter/flugelhornist Jun Iida is a textural panorama of multi-cultural jazz flavors, offering original and known fare. Each of the ten tracks is a portrait, and they display fine solo and ensemble playing. To describe Evergreen in one word is to call it “intriguing." “Gooey Butter Cake," one of six originals from Iida, ...
