James Olsen

Jim Olsen has been a professional composer/arranger and performer on flute and saxophone for over 30 years. His jazz compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by (among others) trumpeters Bobby Shew and Jim Rotondi, saxophonist Dick Oatts, pianist Michael Weiss, the Eastman School of Music, Kansas University, University of Denver, Indiana University and Oregon jazz ensembles. Olsen served as the music director for the Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra, a Eugene big band, for 15 years. During his tenure with the band he conducted for and performed with such notable artists as pianists Michael Weiss and Kenny Drew, Jr., drummer Jeff Hamilton and trombonists Michael Davis and Andy Martin, as well as Shew, Rotondi and Oatts


Colleen Kitchen

Colleen has been playing keys forever, and recently completed the total paradigm shift to jazz. A pianist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Colleen hits the ground running wherever she happens to be dropped musically.


Sean Peterson

Performance Sean Peterson is a bassist and composer based in Eugene, Oregon. He performs in genres including Jazz, Baroque, Funk, Gypsy-grass, and Salsa. He recently composed, recorded and mixed his debut CD for jazz sextet, "Let It Show," which was released June 8th, 2015. He performs regularly with Laura Kemp, Eleven Eyes, Tony Glausi, Torrey Newhart, and Oregon Bach Collegium. Previously he has performed with Taarka, Beta Collide, The Oregon Composers’ Big Band, and The Harry James Orchestra. Sean does it for the love. Scholarship Sean is a PhD student in musicology at the University of Oregon and holds a Master's degree in Jazz Studies (Bass Performance)


David Rogers

SOLO GUITARIST DAVID ROGERS Recently termed, ‘a prominent guitarist,’ by the New York Times, David Rogers Fuses classical, jazz, early, and world music elements into powerful, moving and virtuosic performances based on both original compositions and traditional repertoire. The Washington Post has praised his ‘astonishingly florid’ improvisations. He has been called a 'modern master’ of the classical guitar' by 20th Century Guitar. Classics has praised his ‘first rate instrumental artistry,’ and the Lute Society of America Quarterly has called his technique ‘formidable.’ He is an endorsing artist for GHS Strings and his music has been featured in major guitar magazines such as Fingerstyle Guitar in the United States and Akustic Gitarre, in Germany


Torrey Newhart

Torrey Newhart is a jazz pianist and composer born in Bend, Oregon in 1990. At the early age of four years old he picked up a violin for the first time and began piano at age six. Newhart began his career in music during his sophomore year of high school, performing gigs at local venues and stages including Bebop Biscotti Coffee House, where he got his start performing regularly in front of live audiences. It was here that Torrey first began to play with bassist Corey Adkins and drummer Adam Carlson, who currently remain members of his trio. In September, 2008 having over one hundred live performances under his belt, Newhart moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance
