Elena McEntire
Elena McEntire, vocalist, is celebrated for bridging dynamic folk and jazz performances with an extensive classical and chamber music background. Her vocal style has been praised for its "steady, unadorned delivery, perfect in conveying emotional power" (AllAboutJazz) and “magical effect on the mind’s ear” (Jazzdagama). She transcends traditional vocal boundaries, using her voice as an expressive instrument in any context. She has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Shapeshifter Lab, and The Kitano in New York, at Boston’s Regattabar, and in the San Francisco Bay Area at the California Jazz Conservatory, Keys Jazz Bistro, and Meyhouse Jazz. Elena appears with the Christian Artmann Quartet on several albums: Uneasy Dreams, Our Story, and Middle of Life (all on Sunnyside Records). Lauded for an “appealing dusky sound, smooth from the bottom to its powerful top” (Houston Chronicle), she has performed leading roles at opera houses and concert halls in the US and Europe
