Eagles

The band formed in 1971 when Linda Ronstadt's then-manager, John Boylan, extracted Frey, Leadon, and Meisner from their affiliations. They were short a drummer until Frey phoned Henley, whom he had met at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The band backed up Ronstadt on a two-month tour, then decided to form their own band, The Eagles. Their first album, The Eagles, was filled with pure, sometimes innocent country rock; their second, Desperado, was themed on Old West outlaws and introduced the group's penchant for conceptual songwriting. To record their third album, On the Border, the group selected producer Glyn Johns, who previously worked with Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who

Eagles: Legacy

Read "Legacy" reviewed by Doug Collette

Sometimes a gift box is just a gift box and that's certainly true of Eagles' Legacy. Not to disparage its ample resources, this is not quite the definitive history of these commercial kingpins of the Seventies. But then, there's never been one, at least in any format similar to this: Selected Works (Elektra, 2000) comes close, ...

The Vintage Years 1970 - 1991

Read "The Vintage Years 1970 - 1991" reviewed by John Kelman

There are bands that manage to carve out a place for themselves in the music world that lasts for decades; there are others who, while having created a name for themselves during their peak years and, while they continue to tour and, even, make the occasional studio album, are invariably best remembered for their seminal early ...

Roughly forty-five minutes in duration, the ten tracks recorded live at the Los Angeles Forum in ...

Peter Case: Peter Case

Read "Peter Case: Peter Case" reviewed by Doug Collette

The music on Peter Case's debut solo album is as pure and straightforward as the title of this eponymous work. And that's even taking into account the layered approach T Bone Burnett applied in one of his earliest production jobs. The seven bonus tracks illustrate how both this original material of Case's stands strong on its ...

Jack Tempchin: One More Song

Read "Jack Tempchin: One More Song" reviewed by Doug Collette

Jack Tempchin's name may not elicit immediate recognition, but chances are his songs will. He contributed to the composition of “Peaceful Easy Feeling" on the Eagles' eponymous debut album in 1972 and also helped write “Already Gone" from On the Border (Elektra, 1974). As a member of the Funky Kings in 1976 (along with another estimable ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
