Iconoclast

Iconoclast is a duo from New York City comprised of Julie Joslyn (alto saxophone, live electronics, violin, vocals) and Leo Ciesa (drums, percussion, keyboards, vocals). Ciesa and Joslyn have been composing and performing together since 1987 and have developed a bold and distinctive sound. Iconoclast's music and performance is known for its intensity, physicality and "larger than duo" impact. Acoustic and electronic sounds exist side by side as the music moves between improvisation and composition without stylistic limitation. As a review in "Culture Catch" states "Falling in the cracks between genres, sounding like nobody else on the scene, Joslyn and Ciesa have carved out a brave nich for themselves as Iconoclast."

Iconoclast has performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe

Eyal Netzer & Oded Geizhals: Duo

Read "Duo" reviewed by Chris May

If what looks like a chocolate cake on the sleeve suggests a birthday party or similarly exuberant affair, perhaps a house warming, think again. Duo is an altogether more intimate and introspective album. It was recorded by the Israeli tenor saxophonist Eyal Netzer and vibraphonist Oded Geizhals live in the studio and with, or so it ...

Orilla

Orilla (O-ree-yah) is co-led by the Catalan-Spanish singer/multi-instrumentalist Ona Kirei and Colombian-American bassist Alejandro Arenas. Like the meaning of the Spanish word orilla; where the ocean meets the sand, the combination of these two accomplished musicians produces a rich musical ecosystem: Latino and European roots mix with American culture giving way to a uniquely creative multicultural sound. Orilla captivates audiences with their warm, vibrant and expressive sound, varied repertoire, and outstanding musical skills.

Madeleine & Salomon

Madeleine & Salomon is the encounter of two artists with distinct musical backgrounds: the composer and pianist Alexandre Saada and the vocalist and flutist Clotilde Rullaud. Six years after their acclaimed first album, A Woman’s Journey, the duo releases its second album, Eastern Spring. Although this new album pays homage to the militant Middle Eastern pop of the 1960s-1970s – all gems, though most are unknown in the West – one recognises certain intonations of the previous album, which was devoted to the leading politically-aware songstresses of the American canon.

Duoya

Duoya is the funky brainchild of Gustav Horneij and Dimitrios Karatzios. The two met through a shared obsession with jazz vinyl and later started jamming, eventually forming Organic Pulse Ensemble together. While that band in time would turn into a one man venture, their creative chemistry was still there when they decided to start sending recordings and song sketches back and forth during the spring of 2020. The resulting record is a socially distanced synthastic funk record. It draws from a wide variety of inspirations but mostly, it's based around the idea that anything goes as long as it's funky.
