Ben Makinen

Born: March 14, 1967

Ben Makinen - member BMI - is a performer, composer, and producer living in Denver, Colorado. He is president of Bmakin Music, a label he created to carry music from all points of the globe, regardless of genre. Seeing Miles Davis perform live three times and then meeting the Dalai Lama in person forever changed the way Ben would approach the art of music. He is a 2006 Independent Music Awards Finalist: Film/TV-Multimedia. Ben is the producer of jazz album Fishleather Jacket which received the Roger Bobo Excellence In Recording Award in June of 2006. As a drummer and percussionist, he has been touring the world as a sideman since 1985 with R&B, funk, and rock bands, jazz trios and big bands, avant-garde electronica ensembles, in Broadway shows, on international cruise ships, and with opera troupes and symphonic orchestras

Mike Fortune

Born: July 7, 1974

Mike Fortune is a drummer committed to creative new music. Growing up in upstate New York, Mike studied with percussionists Richard Albagli and James Peterscak and drummers John Riley, Ed Shaunessy and Bob Moses. He also, during that time, earned a B. of Ed. In Music Ed. at the Crane School of Music. When not meditating in the wilderness, he gained performing experience with Bret Zvacek, Mark Capon, Nick Mancini, Paul Tynan, and other friends. William Bhatti was born William Goegebeur in Belgium. Retired completely from the music scene in 2002... William stopped his musical explorations as a drummer... The yearning for passionate expression is still there... the energy is still there... but how it will manifest itself in the future, if it does, is unknown at this point.

Gregg Brennan

Gregg Brennan is a composer, drummer, educator, bandleader and painter currently living in London, England. He is a graduate of Berklee College of music and has studied with, among others Bob Moses, Ian Froman, Skip Hadden and Joe Hunt. Gregg has recorded 3 albums as a leader with his own bands and has appeared on numerous other co-led and sideman outings in the United States and Canada. He regularly plays and records around London with a number of the city’s top musicians in a variety of contexts and scenarios and teaches privately in North London and at The Conservatoire.

Miller Luwoye is known to possess the ability to play a multiple number of different styles with the appropriate descipline and musicality. It was once said that if you put Jazz, Classical, Gospel, Folk Music, Afro-Cuban, Hip Hop, African Music, Thomey Dorsey, Buddy Rich, Art Blakey, Mahalia Jackson, Ebenezer Obey, Will Kennedy, Coltrane, Joe Zawinul, Horacio El Negro Hernandez, Paco De Lucia and the Grace of God in a blender the result you would get is Miller. What began as hitting the drums after church service from the age of 4 flourished into what Miller Luwoye was called to do... playing drums with divine enablement (Grace)... After high school, Miller proceeded to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he did his grades in Jazz Drumming and a few years later he got a scholarship to study in the University where he earned a B.A (Hons) degree in Jazz Studies majoring performance. By divine opportunity he has worked with great musicians such as Jonathan Butler, Kim Burrell, Femi Temowo, Niki illes and many more

Avreeayl Ra

Born: May 21, 1947

Chicago master drummer / percussionist AVREEAYL RA was born in Chicago on May 21st, 1947 and still lives there today. He is a renowned musician always in demand among visiting jazz artists in Chicago. Avreeayl’s father, Arthur "Swinglee" O’Neil, was a tenor saxophonist who was mentor to many young Chicago musicians, including John Gilmore, later the mainstay of Sun Ra’s Arkestra. (Avreeayl reports that John Gilmore had a crush on Avreeayl’s sister and so spent as much time as he could at the family house.) Swinglee O’Neil played in one of Sun Ra’s early Chicago bands, and Sun Ra played in one of Swinglee’s groups as well. Avreeayl is a long-term member of the Chicago AACM, his relationship with the seminal music organization having begun with early studies with AACM co-founder Kelan Philip Cohran

Christopher Massey

Born: February 17, 1959

Chris Massey, melodic jazz/groove drummer, originally from Buffalo; NY, attended the Berklee College of Music in the late 1970's and studied with jazz great Joe Hunt. He has since been a resident of New York City, London, England, Austin, Texas; Bloomington, IN; and currently Switzerland.

Able to place his particular sound within the jazz world as well as the grooves of R&B, funk, hip-hop, Soul and dance-jazz...he has performed and recorded with a great number of cutting edge artists (especially guitar players)in the US and Europe such as: Steve Swallow, Bill Frisell, David Torn, Robert Creeley, Raoul Björkenheim, Tom Varner, David Grissom, Christy Doran, Simon Picard, Mike Gibbs, John Mills, Chris Duarte, Michael Leasure, Brian Gephart, John Wolf Brennan, Jimmy LaFave, and Marc Levinthal.

Mark Feinman

Mark Feinman is a drummer, composer and educator who is inspired by individual human experiences and a diverse range of musical influences. He has extensive performance experience playing with many wonderful musicians, including the trio La Lucha. Mark was awarded an Emerging Artist Grant from Creative Pinellas, the Think Small to Think Big Grant, a Jazz on Edge 13-in-13 commission, and a Project GenYes! residency to present a multi-media project raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease at The Studio@620. As the drummer for the Tampa Bay-based trio La Lucha, Mark has performed at TEDxTampa Bay (2014), TEDxUSF (2015) & TEDxDouglasville (2017)

Eric Allen

Born: December 18, 1978

Eric Allen began his career in percussion with a proverbial bang (no pun intended). He was spotted at the age of eleven while doing outreach work in south central Los Angeles by an advertising executive for Wuhan Percussion, who after taking one look at him decided that this was the kind of child that America would love to see run headfirst into one of the company's gongs. This advertising campaign was wildly popular for approximately two weeks (Eric even became a bit of a cult figure in the high stakes world of professional gong playing) at which time Wuhan decided he had outgrown his initial child like appeal and turned him out of their studios.
